Day Off + Making the Most of the Day

Hey there everyone & happy Monday!

Holy cow this past week was crazy. Between working & having some good friends visit for the weekend, I have been running around non-stop. Today is my day off before I have to go back into work & it got me thinking about all the things that I wasn’t able to accomplish on the days that I was busy. So, I thought I would share some of my tips on how I try to stay productive during a day off! I always try my best to make the most out of my day off’s. I’m not saying that any free time I have is used cleaning & organizing, but I like to explore & make the most out of the full day I have!

Don’t sleep in late

I know that you probably want to sleep in on your day off but I’m telling you there is no better feeling than waking up at a decent time & getting your day started. I’m not saying you need to wake up at the crack of dawn or anything, but waking up at 8:30 or 9 in the morning honestly great! I am able to roll out of bed, grab my morning coffee & start my day.

Make a reasonable To-Do List

The key word here is reasonable. If you are using your day off to work on getting stuff done, then make a to-do list of the most important things you need to get done that day! I normally try to start off with 5 goals for that day & if I get done with them all early, then I focus on the lesser important goals that I had!

Move Your Body

Don’t spend the whole day just hanging around the house watching Netflix (I know it’s hard not to) but get your body up & moving! Whether it’s going to the gym or finding a new local hang out spot, it is important to not waste your time & get your body moving. I love finding new places in GR to explore on my day off!

Unplug

Life is too short for you to spend an entire day just looking at your phone! I’m not perfect & believe me I could spend hours just mindlessly staring at my computer or on my phone, but some days I have to force myself to unplug. I have found that I am way more productive on my day off when I disconnect & pay attention to everything going on around me. If you want to make the most of your time off, unplug & make sure to make the most of the beautiful day around you!

Do something you don’t normally do

Day off’s are the perfect day to try something new & do something that you normally don’t have the opportunity to do! A lot of the time I don’t have a whole lot of time to go somewhere, just sit & write, so on my day off’s I try to put some time aside for me to go sit somewhere local & write. I also love to spend time with my boyfriend, especially if we have both been crazy with work, and spend some time exploring!

Recharge

Your mind & body are the most important things for you to take care of, so it is important for you to take some time during the day to recharge your body! Most days I like to take a cat nap or try some meditation because it helps me to refresh myself before taking on the week ahead.

Prepare for the week

As much as I would love to just forget about adult responsibilities (ew) and go about my day, most times I find it useful to take an hour or two out of my day to plan out the week! This way I have a clear plan of what I still need to do & plan out time to do it in between working.

I hope you use some of these tips on your next day off & if you have any more awesome tips that you think I should use, let me know in the comments below! Also, I have been working on some AMAZING content that I am so excited to share with all of you. So, be on the lookout for some new stuff coming soon! I hope you all have an amazing rest of your week full of fun & positivity. Don’t let your Monday blues bring you down today & keep pushing forward to the weekend!

My Blog is 1 Year Old + Everything I have Learned

Hey there everyone!

So it’s official my blog, Hannah Rose is one year old & I cannot even believe it! Looking back a year ago I would have never thought that I would have been in this spot that I am today. I started this blogging journey just for fun & I am just amazed at how far I have come. I have found myself & my own personal style through this journey which has helped with my confidence as not only a writer but as a woman. My passion with this blog has always been to spread positivity & love through blogging so, I am very happy that I have been able to accomplish that in just a year that I have been writing for Hannah Rose. I have learned so many important lessons about blogging & what it means to be a content creator. So, I’ll stop rambling & share some lessons that I have learned through becoming a blogger!

Blogging can be time-consuming

Finding & creating content for every week can be insanely time consuming, especially as a full-time student. Lucky for me, I absolutely love to write which made it really easy for me want to sit down & create new content! Even with my busy schedule for working & school work, I found that with a little planning I can create content on the regular if I just make it a priority with everything else in my life.

Find a blogging tribe

Sometimes the only people who will support you through this journey will be your other blogger babes! Now don’t get me wrong, I love my friends & family’s support, but there is nothing like having a group of other bloggers to lean on for support during your blogging journey. Since I have started this blog I have connected with other women from all over the country & it’s so nice to talk to them about their start and create new content with them. I am so lucky to have some of these amazing & supportive people in my life!

It’s okay that I may not make money doing this

That’s not why I started this blog in the first place. I started this blog so I could connect with other people & spread positive vibes through my writing. I am lucky enough to be a part of FabFitFun’s Affiliate program (which has been amazing) & my goal is to keep building up my brand so hopefully, it could possibly start paying for itself. However like I said earlier, it’s totally okay that I am not making money off this blog. I do it for the love of writing & creating every day!

Social media is key

I had a pretty decent social media presence before I started my blog, but after I had started blogging is when my presence really took off! I started developing my own style for my images, I was easily able to share new blog content with everyone & social media really helped me build up my brand. I honestly don’t know where my blog would be if I wasn’t able to share through my social media. (PS: Follow me on all my social media!)

My writing is ALWAYS improving

Looking back to when I first started writing, I almost have to laugh at my writing style back then. It’s crazy how much my voice has changed through writing & part of that is how much confidence I have gained within this past year! I used to be so nervous & second guess my writing before posting it. Now I have a little more confidence in myself & my writing which has made all the difference.

Plan Plan Plan

Planning out content is key. When I first started writing for the blog I didn’t have much of a plan when it came to what content I wanted to post & when I wanted to post it. I’m not saying I have gotten AMAZING at planning, but I am slowly but surely improving it!

Be you

It gets tiring trying to be like everyone else, but of course, it is very hard not to compare your self to other bloggers out there. There have been plenty of times that I have tried to change my writing or my style for the sake of trying to be similar to other successful bloggers out there. The truth is the only person you can be is YOU! Since I have discovered this, I have found my own style & started writing content that I have been insanely proud of. The best advice that I can pass on after this year is just to be yourself!

These are just a small amount of lessons that I have learned through this past year of blogging. I would share more but then I would have a novel! I just want to thank everyone who has stuck by my side through this blogging journey. It honestly means the world to me that all of you have stuck by my side since the very beginning. I can’t wait to keep writing content & sharing all my adventures with all of you.  Cheers to one year & I hope for many more to come!

Rose Vintage Dress + Exploring Grand Haven

Hello beautiful people!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend & are ready to keep this week going with lots of positivity & motivation. This past weekend was packed with so much fun! Friday I traveled back to my hometown in Grosse Pointe & was able to enjoy the Journey & Def Leppard concert at Comerica Park (best birthday present EVER) & Saturday was full of lots of celebrating for my best friends 21st birthday! It was so much fun & important to spend time with the people that I hold close to my heart so overall my weekend was absolutely amazing. I’m sorry for not posting anything on the blog this past week. I was in a dry spell (creatively) & desperately needed to get out of my apartment, shoot some fun photos and work on creating more content for you! So, I’m back & ready to share some of these amazing photos taken by my love.

DSC_0212DSC_0197DSC_0189DSC_0155DSC_0150DSC_0146DSC_0141DSC_0132So this sundress is one of my all-time new favorite pieces in my closet! I found it at Marshalls on the clearance rack &  just had to have it. I have been looking for more dresses this summer season, so when I found this hidden gem I knew I could not walk out without it. The style fits my body type perfectly & I have some serious vintage vibes while wearing it.  It is the perfect casual strolling around outfit which is exactly what we did that day! My handsome boyfriend & I had some time before we worked later that day so we decided to spend it doing a little photoshoot & roaming the cute town of Grand Haven. I am absolutely OBSESSED with Grand Haven because I love small boutiques & cute unique restaurants that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. After we were done shooting we grabbed a bite to eat at the Electric Hero Sandwich Shop & all I can say is that the sandwiches were just YUM! I could have spent all day walking around & doing a little shopping (of course), but sadly we both had to end up going into work.

This week I have a lot going on with work, but that won’t stop me from working on more content that I am very excited to share with all of you! My blog is almost a year old & I am very very excited about that as well! It’s crazy to see how far my blog has come in the year & how much my style & everything has changed since then. I honestly didn’t realize when I first started this blog how much it has actually changed my life. I have grown to be more confident in myself & my writing, I have met so many great people through blogging and writing for this blog has become one of my greatest passions. I cannot wait to see where the rest of this journey will take me. Thank you, everyone, for sticking with me & reading. I appreciate & love all of you. Have an amazing rest of your week & I cannot wait to talk to you all again soon!

My Latest Obsessions + July Goals

Hey there everyone!

The past couple of days I have really been struggling with motivation & inspiration to write content because it’s been so hot lately. But, I was able to finally sit down & crank out some great content that I am very excited to share with all of you very soon! I hope you all are having an amazing week & are ready to keep pushing through for the weekend. We have finally made it to July & I cannot believe that summer is literally halfway done! It doesn’t even feel real. However, a new month means new obsessions & goals to share with all of you!

DSC_1704

Denim Skirts

With this huge heatwave moving through Michigan I have been trying to find the perfect pieces to keep me nice and cool & denim skirts are doing the job. I have found so many cute skirts while thrifting & I am very excited to share all those looks with you!

Fruit Smoothies

My favorite go-to drink this summer has been fruit smoothies! Not only are they good for you but, they will also keep you cool for those hot summer days. I love to either go out to Tropical Smoothie near my apartment or make my own at home!

Red Queen Series

I have just recently started this series & I am 100% hooked! The book is basically about a world divided by blood, Red or Silver, and basically follows the story of this young girl Mare who goes through many adventures of her own in this world. The style of the book is very similar to the Hunger Games (which I loved) so if you are into cool dystopian adventure books like I am, I would 10/10 recommend this book to you & I am very excited to finish the first book so I can go and read the rest of the series!

Elemis Papaya Enzymatic Exfoliant

I shared this product on my last post for the FabFitFun Unboxing Summer 2018 & YOU GUYS this stuff is incredible! I absolutely am obsessed with this product. It naturally exfoliates your skin without any pain or irritation. I use it all the time & it has done wonders for my skin. If you are looking for a new amazing skincare product to try, I 100% recommend Elemis!

The Magnolia Journal

I am someone who loves interior design & tips on bettering my lifestyle and this journal is a perfect read! I love reading & taking tips that I can apply to my everyday lifestyle. I love the aesthetic of the journal

Sushi Sushi Sushi

Now sushi is good every time of the year, but especially during the summertime, it is one of my all-time favorite things to eat! It is the perfect lightweight meal to help you withstand the summer heat. My favorite place to go in Grand Rapids is 1000% Maru Sushi. If you haven’t been before I totally encourage you to go try them out!

Now here are some of my July goals!

  • Go out on at least 2 adventurous dates with my boyfriend Nick
  • Try a new restaurant downtown
  • Try to go to the gym at least 4 times a week
  • Build up my social media presence
  • Organize my room (it’s in desperate need of that)
  • Sell/Donate clothes that I never wear
  • Find new areas to photograph for the blog

I hope you enjoyed reading my latest obsessions & goals for this month! I also hope that some of my goals inspire some of your own goals & help you move forward with lots of motivation and positivity for the rest of July. Have an awesome rest of your week & keep a look out for new content coming your way soon!
