Stressful Weeks + Staying Positive

Hey there beautiful friends,

This last week was the most stressed out I have been in a while. We had midterms that were taking up 90% of my life & with the added drama of work & life, it was just a lot to handle. I feel like some of my better blogs come from when I am under stress or when I am going through some personal things (boy my life is fun). Last week got me thinking about a lot about stress & how I can learn to cope with it in the best way possible. It can be hard to be positive when everything else around you seems to be crumbling. But, I have been learning that I cannot allow the stress of the week to bring down my energy or positivity! So I thought I would share some of my tricks on how to keep the positivity even during hard weeks.

Take care of your basic needs

Trying to find time to take care of yourself & your basic needs can be hard, especially when you are stressed. Remembering to eat well, exercise in some way & making sure you get enough sleep can make managing your stress a WHOLE lot easier! Even meeting other needs like self-care can be important to take care of. Put on a face mask, light your favorite candle or turn on your favorite Netflix show, do whatever makes you happy & takes some weight off your shoulders.

Be grateful for the good things around you

Expressing gratitude towards the things in your life that make you happy can be a subtle & great way for you to focus on something other than stress. You could keep a small journal to write down any things that you are grateful for & the next time you are feeling stressed take a look at everything so you can block out any bad energy.

Repeat positive affirmations 

Having small positive affirmations around your room or home is one of the best ways to feel positive during a hard or stressful week. I love it when my roomie or boyfriend leave me small notes telling me to have a good day or reminders to stay positive, because it just puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day! Surrounding yourself with little positive affirmations or reminders is a perfect reminder to not let stress invade your energy. There is power in positivity & if you repeat them enough times then you will eventually believe it!

Don’t worry about the small things

Spending your time worrying about all the small problems going on in your life will make it very easy for you to lose perspective. One small inconvenience may feel like the end of the world during a stress filled week. When this happens you have to remember to take a step away from everything & think about if this will actually matter in the future? I can promise most of the time your answer will be “no.” So remember to not sweat the small inconveniences because they aren’t worth your time!

Spread positivity to others 

I am a BIG believer in if you will receive what you give. If you are positive towards someone or something then you will get that same positivity back! Encouraging your friends during a big project or being nice to someone random are perfect examples of promoting positive energy. Encouraging others will make it so much easier for you to encourage yourself during hard weeks.

I hope you take some of these tips & work them into your own life because I believe that keeping a positive attitude even during the hardest of times is the best way to handle it all! It’s Okay Not to Have a Plan + Why

Hey there everyone,

Since I have started my last year in college something has been on my mind (as I’m sure it has been for the rest of you in the same position) & that has been what does the future have in store for me? I can’t express to you how often this has been on my mind for the past few weeks so I wanted to share a post with all of you about how I have been feeling about this topic. It’s so hard not to look at people on social media or in real life & how it looks like they have their whole lives put together. I have experienced this in so many different instances & it’s hard not letting that put doubts in your head about your own life & questioning where it all went wrong. But recently, I have realized that not everyone has it all figured out which is OKAY!

When I was in high school I always knew that my next step was college & I would further my education. When you are in high school you never had to think critically about your future plans past college & now that I have entered my final year of school, I realize how fast everything is actually moving. It has been making it harder to figure out what my next step should be. Even though it is a scary thought not knowing where I am headed or what I will do after school & I have come to the conclusion that it’s okay not to have it all together. The more I have thought everything, I have come to accept that I can’t always control where my life is headed. Don’t get me wrong I set goals for my everyday life, but I absolutely SUCK at planning my future. Thinking about moving away from home or graduating from college or moving in with your boyfriend can be a scary thing to think about, but you have to. I am only 21 years old & I am supposed to make all of these decisions & moves that will change my whole life. But, I have decided not to let these things scare me anymore. Trying not to worry about every little detail has allowed me the ability to relax & reflect on everything going on in my life. I normally am a high strung person who tends to stress very easily, but now I am working on accepting things for they way they are & not stress about what the future has in store for me. I have learned to be patient & trust that there is a plan for me. So the next time you are feeling stressed out about your future, just remember that it is okay not to follow your exact plan. Take time, adventure, make mistakes & love your life because it is the only one you have!

I hope this post has helped you feel more at ease about whatever is going on in your life. For me, I know writing this post out (finally) has helped me dive in deeper to how I feel about this topic & how to cope with all these changes going on. No matter how old you may be, just remember to enjoy your life (cheesy, I know) & don’t stay hung up on your “plan” for the rest of your life. You have plenty of time to figure everything out! My Latest Obsessions + October Goals

Hey there everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend & are ready to continue this week with positivity & lots of motivation. This weekend was crazy but totally fun! I was able to go to the Apple Orchard (the first of many visits this fall) on a double date with my best friend & be able to spend some quality time with people that I really care about. I have been trying my best to keep up with school, work and maintaining a social life & I have to say it has been kicking my butt lately. But, this week I am feeling motivated & ready to attack everything I have to do with full force. We have finally made it to October & I could not be more excited about it! I have broken out all of my sweaters, boots & scarves for the season and the PSL’s are a MUST HAVE in the morning. Now that we are in a new month (the best month) it is time for new obsessions & goals for this fall season!

Almond Milk 

So this is something that I never in a million years would think I would like, but I am OBSESSED! I have just been using almond milk creamer in my coffee or using it for my Starbucks in the morning (PSL + Almond Milk + Extra Shot Expresso is EVERYTHING) & I cannot get enough of it. It adds a sweet nutty flavor to my coffee that I just adore & it’s half the calories of some creamers which is a bonus!

Fabletics 

If you are looking for a bomb place for workout leggins then I 100% recommend Fabletics! I had bought 2 pairs from a sale that they have which is you can buy 2 pairs of leggings for only $24. Now, I was kind of skeptical because I am very picky about the kind of leggings I buy. If they are too thin then I never wear them & I hate when they don’t “hug” the right areas of my legs. The Fabletics leggings I bought hit every box for me! They are comfortable, cute & hug your body in all the right places. I 10/10 would recommend this brand & I promise you won’t be sorry!

The Handmaids Tale

Lately, I have been watching re-runs of shows that I have seen a billion times & normally I don’t mind watching my favorite shows, but sometimes it gets old & you need something new. If you are on Hulu I would totally watch their original show, The Handmaids Tale! I’m going to be honest, I never thought I would like this show, it seemed creepy, dark & that is normally not what I’m into, but this show grabbed my attention. I won’t give away anything because I want you to watch & love it like I do!

Kaylen’s Coffee Talk Podcast

I have been on this new lifestyle/ wellness kick lately & I have found the perfect podcast to listen to help me feel inspired on a daily basis. Kaylen’s coffee talk is my favorite way to kick off every morning! She is so real & talks about everyday things that I can relate to on every level.   • Start a Podcast
  • Work on a healthier lifestyle
  •  Become more active on Instagram
  • Start making some brand deals
  • 5 dollar a day challenge (help save money)
  • Begin learning sign language

So those are my obsessions & goals for this month! As you can see I have decided to start a podcast with one of my blogger friends, Caroline (check out her blog https://caroline-miller.com )! More information will be shared soon once we have sorted out all of the details.
