Fallin’ Into Fun!

Hey there everyone!

I hope everyone had an amazing, fun filled weekend & are ready to keep the momentum going this week! I know I had a great weekend full of fun fall activities and spending time with those I love. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love anything fall! I love the cozy fall fashions, the color changing leaves, the cooler weather & all the apple cider and doughnuts I desire! Everything about the fall season makes me absolutely happy inside. So I wanted to share with you some fun fall activities to get you as excited about the season as I am!

Apple Orchard / Cider Mill Visit

This is a tradition that I have a special place in my heart! Ever since I was super little my parents would always take my sister and I to our local pumpkin patch or apple orchard for cider & doughnuts! There is so much that you can do there! From picking apples to hayrides to eating warm cider & doughnuts, it is a tradition that everyone should have this fall!

Get spooked at your local haunted house

If you are one of those people who loves a good spook be sure to attend your local haunted house! They are a for sure way to scare your pants off and give you that adrenaline rush that you have been wanting.

Host a bonfire

If you were a Girl Scout, now is the time to put those fire building skills to work! As the temperature gets cooler bonfires are a great way to bring people together outside! Bring marshmallows and some blankets and you have the perfect activity for a cool fall night!

Do your own fall photo-shoot

If you have some fall outfits that you have been dying to throw on and capture the beauty of the fall colors then you should totally do a fall photo-shoot! Find a cute area (apple orchard, park or your own backyard), bring a camera or a phone with a good camera &  just have fun with it! IMG_2103

Have a cozy movie night

There is nothing that I love more than watching classic Halloween movies with my boyfriend or friends. Throw on some Pj’s, grab a blanket, pop some popcorn, throw in Hocus Pocus and enjoy the night!

Shop local farmers market

This season is one of the best times to hit up your local farmers market! I know my school hosts a local farmers market every Wednesday to give students a chance to pick up local fresh produce and specialty items! You end up supporting local businesses and find a new gems for your pantry!

Go on a fall hike

Nothing is better than crisp fall air & the beautiful changing leaves, so now is the perfect time to find local trails to walk through. After spending all week in a classroom it is nice to reconnect with nature and enjoy the outdoors before snow hits!

Carve Pumpkins

One of my favorite traditions is carving pumpkins! It’s one of the many ways to be creative during the fall season. Whether you carve or paint your pumpkins it’s the best way to get in the Halloween spirit! Aren’t these pumpkins “boo-tiful?”

6 Things That Make Me Happy

Hey there everyone!

Sorry, once again, for not being online lately. Things here at school have been super busy and I haven’t found barely any time to sit down and write. BUT, I am back and ready to kick my blogging back into gear and start writing again! First, I want to give you guys a little update. I have been working on reaching out to different advertising firms for summer internship opportunities, which has been taking up most of my free time. I have also been super booked up with classes and working for the school newspaper, so every minute of my time has been taking up by something or other. We have also OFFICIALLY made it to fall weather! This is by far my favorite season of all time!! It means sweater weather and warm PSL’s all day long! So, needless to say I am very excited and ready for cooler weather & everything else going well in my life!

Since I am feeling good, I wanted to write about the 5 things that make me happy! Whether its big or little, we all have a few things that make us happy no matter what. Here are my top 6!

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

My Family, Friends & Boyfriend

I don’t think that I could do what I do or be who I am without the love and support of all these people in my life. Out of all the things that make me happy, they have to be my number one thing. All of these people have been here for me no matter what & supported me and my dreams (no matter how far off they may seem). I love them truly and I wouldn’t change any of them for the world.

Music

Music has always proven to be one of the top things that has always made me happy no matter the day. I love how whatever I am listening to somehow resonates with me and calms me without fail. I have always loved to sing ever since I was little. My parents made sure that I had music in my life, from super old classics to new- age music, I listen to it all. I love to just put my headphones in and just tune out from all the stresses in my world.

Coffee/Tea

I can never start my day without a warm cup of coffee or tea. It helps me get through the longest of days and make my mood ten times better. Any one who knows me, knows how much I love my coffee in the morning. When it gets to be the middle of the day, I try to grab a cup of green tea (w/ lemon) for a little pick-me up. There is no better feeling than taking that first warm sip of coffee or tea & that’s why it makes me feel so warm and cozy inside.

Making Other People Happy

Something that always warms my heart is being able to make the people in my life happy. I love trying to be as helpful as I can to my friends or doing nice things for other people if it means that they are a happier version of themselves. It’s truly one of the best feelings in the world to make other people smile.

Fall & Christmas

I know, two kind of random things to be putting together, but it’s true. Like I said at the beginning of this post, I absolutely love the fall & everything about it. I have always been a sweater and scarves kinda girl, so the fact that I can finally break those out makes me so happy! I also love Christmas time! I have so many wonderful memories that come from this season, and every time I think about them I can’t help but feel all warm inside. These are the 2 seasons that give me pure joy when I think about them!

Adventure

Granted I haven’t traveled around the world much, but even the smallest and more local adventures are just as amazing. Being at Grand Valley, it is so nice to be so close to the downtown GR and the city, but at the same time I am only a little ways from Lake Michigan & the beach! There is so much room for adventure and I absolutely love it. There is something about traveling somewhere new and just seeing what kinds of things you can do to create a new adventure.

What are some of your favorite things that make you happy? I’d love to hear what you have to say in the comments below! I hope you all have a great rest of your week & finish it our strong! I have some more content in the works for all of you and I promise it will be out soon! Thank you for tuning in everyone!

How to Beat the Weekday Blues!

Hey there everyone!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are ready to kick off this week with a happy and healthy start! I know everyone hates weekdays, but I am here to tell you, that they don’t have to be so bad! Even though it may be the start of the week, but it doesn’t have to be the worst day ever. With the right routine to follow and a positive outlook on the day, you can TOTALLY survive your week!

Nutrients!

I like to try and start off my mornings with a good breakfast. If I don’t end up having the time then I try and grab a granola bar or pick up something on the go. I have found that eating something in the morning makes me feel more energized and more awake throughout the course of the day!

Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!

I like to start everyday with a good cup of coffee or tea. Mainly coffee in the morning, and then as the day progresses, I like to grab a warm cup of green tea with lemon to keep me going! Drinking coffee and/ or tea in the morning can give you that little push of caffeine that will help you get your morning started and make the rest of your day!

Turn Up the Music!

Be sure to play those happy songs in the morning when getting ready for your day. I have a specific playlist set up of a bunch of songs from happy & energetic to relaxation beats. Having music helps me wake up and begin the rest of my day!

Do Something You Love!

I love to try and leave some time between my busy schedule to do a hobby that I love. For instance, I love photography, so I love to go out, walk around for 30 minutes & snap some pictures! I find that doing something that you love to do whether it be reading, photography or going on a run, try to make time for the small hobbies that you have!

Leave Some Time for Relaxation

Weekdays can get totally stressful. Between classes, homework, work, clubs, and more, we don’t normally have so much downtime, BUT it is important to leave time for relaxation. Whether you do some yoga or relax and read cozy in bed, you should leave a little bit of time for you to relax & unwind from a stressful schedule.

Spend Time With Those You Love

My friends & boyfriend mean everything to me! Especially when I am having a long and stressful day, they are the only people who can make those long days better.  Whether it be dinner, movie, or even just sitting around and talking over coffee, sometimes just spending time with those you love make everything better.

Exercise!

Okay, so I am still working on this one for myself. I am all for trying to stay fit, and I completely understand of it is hard to find the time after a long day, but exercising really does help! I have been trying to push myself to go to the gym everyday, no matter the day or how tired I am, I am trying to push myself to stay active. Now, exercising doesn’t have to be just going to the gym. Take a fitness class or join an IM sport! There are many ways to stay active & it most definitely helps beat those weekday blues!

Surround Yourself With Positive People!

I personally am not one to spend my time with people who always make it hard for me to maintain a positive attitude. On top of everything else going on on the weekdays, I do not want to waste my time with people who have bad attitudes. I found that if you surround yourself with positive people in your life, your days won’t be so bad!

I hope that some of these tips help your days feel less drab and more fab! Feel free to share with me some of your tips on how you make it through your week! I will talk to you guys again really soon!

Update!

Hey there everyone!

I hope you have all had a wonderful week!! I want to apologize for being MIA for a while. I took some time off blogging to prepare and get ready for classes and spend time with some friends that I hadn’t seen in a while. But, now I’m back and ready to kick off this semester with a BANG!

So this past week, I have basically been moving in to my new apartment with my girls! We are still currently moving around everything and making sure everything we own has a home. I did finish putting my room together! I tried to make my space comfortable & relaxing, which I think my room does just that!

I think by bed is my absolute FAVORITE part of my entire room. I mean, whose bed isn’t the favorite part of their room??

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetIMG_0754Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

So since I am on the basement level of the townhouse, I have a special little ledge that I can set my trinkets and pictures on! I also love plants and flowers in my room. They just seem to brighten up the room and provide a little extra life into my little room!

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Instead of using a night stand, I have a night cart! I got it from IKEA and it was a great purchase! I love that I have 3 levels to set all my miscellaneous stuff on! From books, to lotion, to cute little signs, this cart can hold it all. Next to the cart are all my records that I have! I have everything from Prince to Bruno Mars to Journey. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love music, so of course I had to bring up my records! (For those of you wondering, the stuffed penguin is full of lavender. You heat it up, shake it around, and it helps you sleep peacefully!)

One of my biggest issues last year was that my desk was way too cluttered! It made it really hard to focus. So this year I wanted to change that. I ended up repainting my old desk with this creamy white chalk paint & replacing the old knobs. I think it matches pretty well with how I wanted my room to look, so I am very happy with my desk area. I also wanted to keep things on my desk that I absolutely needed on my desk. For example, I wanted to have a picture of my boyfriend and I on the desk for a little decoration. I also need my stress relief hand lotion (because classes can cause a lot of stress), stapler, cute sticky notes & a pencil holder!

I love my closet! (Nothing else to say).

Now that classes have started, I am starting to get more on a regular schedule & I will be continuing to work on posting on a regular basis. So far though, everything school wise has been going really well! I love all my classes (so far) & all my profs seem to live up to their ratings that I read on Rate my Professor! Clearly it is very early in the semester and it’s hard to tell how everything will pan out, but I am hoping for the very best!

I hope all of you have an amazing day, week, month & year! I’ll be posting more regularly as soon as everything with school and such is all straightened out!

First Weekend in the New Home!

Happy Monday Lovelies!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend filled with lots of  love & relaxation, and are ready to start the week off strong! This weekend has been super productive for me! I finally moved most of my things  into my new townhouse in Grand Rapids with my two best friends! It’s not fully moved into or unpacked yet, so it’s still a work in progress, but it is coming along & I can’t wait to share the pictures with you when it is finally done! It was definitely a jam-packed weekend, filled with fun, laughs & lots of unpacking! I have one more week of working on the east side, then I will be moving up officially this Saturday! I thought I would take today to share some of the activities we did over this past weekend!

We all arrived to the new place on Friday! Because there was so much damage from the last owners, a lot of parts of the townhouse were changed & updated!

As you can see, there is still a lot of progress that needs to be done with my room! But don’t worry, I’ll be sharing more photos of the apartment once it is all finished! I have the basement level room, which is totally fine with me! I have a whole floor to myself, with a bathroom & a super spacious room!

The rest of Friday night was pretty relaxed. We made spaghetti, drank wine & watched Grease! It was the perfect girls night, and the perfect way to kick off the first night in the new apartment!

Saturday Morning, we decided to go out to GR’s Downtown Market! It’s a gorgeous indoor area that is home to many market vendors, full service restaurants, rooftop greenhouses and so much more! it’s the perfect place to take artsy pictures and relax!  I have only been there a handful of times & every time I have been there, it has been amazing! This time, I ordered Tai food, because who doesn’t love a good fried rice! It was DELICIOUS!

After some great conversations & some quality food, it was time to enjoy walking around the market & around downtown GR!

Overall, the entire girls weekend was a success! There were so many laughs and good times that were made in one weekend, which only makes me more excited to see what this upcoming year has in store for the three of us!

I hope you all had as wonderful of a weekend as I did! I’m wishing you all a week filled with love & happiness! I’ll talk to you all soon!

Back to School ~ Must Haves!

Hey there lovelies!

TGIF! It’s time for another beautiful weekend after a long week of work and no play. With summer almost over and heading back to school in the distance, I’ve been thinking a lot about packing, back to school shopping & all the must-haves I need before driving 3 hours back to Grand Valley! I go back to Grand Valley next Saturday, so I am officially down to the wire with everything I need to do & buy before going back! I thought since I am going into my 3rd year of college, I have basically perfected my back to school “must haves!”

unnamed

Above are some of the”essentials” that you should always have when going back to school!

Backpack ~ I mean, how else are you going to carry around everything you need for class? Make sure it’s a sturdy one as well, the last thing you need, on top of stressing about classes, is a backpack that hurts your back, and isn’t well supported!

Wallet ~ I never go anywhere without my wallet. It’s crucial if I ever need to show ID or use my cash to pay for my extra large coffee in the mornings!

Cell Phone ~ This has to be a no brainer for most people. No matter where I go or what I do, I ALWAYS need my cell phone on me. You never know who might try to call you!

Comfy pair of shoes ~ One things for sure, you will be doing a TON of walking around campus! I suggest you get a pair of tennis shoes or Sperry’s boat shoe. Both are perfect options for the amount of steps that you will get in each day.

Jeans ~ At least every girl needs one pair of comfortable jeans that you can wear around campus. Jeans & a T-shirt is a timeless look for when you want the perfect mix of comfortable and casual.

Casual T-shirt ~ Like I said above, you can never go wrong with a comfortable T-shirt and  Jeans/ Leggings. It’s something easy to throw on & can easily be dressed up or down!

Laptop ~ Now, I don’t really have a MacBook, but I do have an HP Pavillion. Either way, entering college you NEED a good laptop! It’s probably the most important thing that will be on your college list.

Baseball Hat ~ For those days that your hair just won’t agree with you, or you honestly don’t want to do anything with it, just throw on a cute baseball cap! My go to is a Detroit Tigers hat, because I have to rep my city of course!

Sunglasses ~ Especially for those sunny end of summer/ fall days, you need a pair of sunglasses. I never leave home without my sunglasses!

Body Spray ~ I absolutely love body spray! It’s perfect for that little bit of fruity smell that you want, without being overwhelmingly strong as perfume.

Hand Lotion ~ I never leave my place without using a little hand lotion on my hands. It smells great, and who doesn’t love soft & smooth hands?!

Notebook/ Planner ~ Both notebooks and a planner are super important! I almost always prefer to write my notes down on paper, because I believe it helps me visualize better (that is unless, the class I am in requires me to take notes down on my laptop). Either way,  having both a notebook and planner are crucial to keep track of everything going on in your classes & personal agenda!

Water Bottle ~ Drinking water is very important. I’ve always been a huge water drinker, so I never leave my water bottle at home! I love my insulated stainless steel water bottle. It keeps my water ice cold for hours!

Headphones ( not listed) ~ When walking to class, I love listening to my music, so headphones is a must for me no matter where I am going!

Coffee Mug / Travel Mug ~ Whether at home or on the go, mugs are always needed! Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love to collect mugs! No matter where you are going, you should never leave without a fresh pot of coffee and a good travel mug!

Gum ~ I am a huge advocate for fresh breath, so I almost always have a pack of gum with me! I never leave home without it!

Quarter-Zip Sweatshirt ~ I love sweatshirts! It’s perfect for those in between cold and hot days to just cozy up and relax!

Blanket (Special Item) ~ Everyone needs a cozy blanket when they go back to school. I personally love my mermaid blanket! It’s not super big, it’s the perfect size to cozy up on my couch with a good book.

What are some of your back to school essentials? Please let me know! Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!

Weekend Away!

Hey there lovelies!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend & are ready to kick off the week with a bang! I thought today I would share with you my adventures in Kalamazoo and South Haven this weekend with my handsome boyfriend! It was our last weekend of summer vacation  together until we are going to be back at school & we went all out! Friday was a pretty relaxed night. We both hand super long days at work on Friday, so we cuddled up on his couch, rented a movie and ate pizza. It might be super simple but with the right person it ends up being the best time ever!

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Saturday, we decided to spend the whole day relaxing by water and sand in South Haven! We had gone most of the summer without having a relaxed beach picnic, so we thought this weekend was the perfect opportunity to do so! Water was too cold to swim but we laughed, ate snacks & baked in the sun!  (Target: Top & Bottom)

After a sunny & sandy day at the beach, we then moved on to ice ream at Captain Nemos! They are famous for their Cake Batter ice cream but I HAD to try their Salted Caramel, because who doesn’t love a good caramel ice cream! YUM!

Afterwards, we continued strolling through the rest of the gorgeous streets, stopping into a bunch of small, adorable stores, we decided to head back to Kalamazoo. When we made it back we rented movie from Family Video, cuddled up on the couch and watched until we fell asleep.

The next morning we went out for a causal brunch at Crows Nest! It’s this hidden gem that not many people know about. It’s interior was so welcoming and cozy that we just had to stop in and grab a warm coffee and some brunch!

After we were stuffed from brunch, we continued our journey together and kept exploring as much as we could of Kalamazoo!

Overall it was an amazing weekend that we were able to spend together! I am so lucky to have someone as caring as Nick & I’m so happy and blessed we were able to do all the wonderful things we were able to do together!

PS: He was gracious enough to be my photographer for this blog post!

Enjoy the blue skies and sunshine this week!

Why I Started Blogging

Hey there!

I thought I would kick off my blogging journey talking about why I started blogging in the first place. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure why all of a sudden I wanted to. I have always been into Facebook and Instagram and posting about my experiences and photos on those platforms, but it never seemed like I could capture the full effect of everything I was writing about. Not too long a go I was talking to a few of my friends up at school who have blogs and they seemed to really enjoy doing it! They said it was relaxing and fun to go around and take pictures and experience new places, whether it be near or far. I’ve never been huge into writing, not that I’m a bad writer or anything, I just never had the time. Now that my schedule is more open and I have some free time on my hands I thought, “why not?” Part of my goal for this upcoming year is to not say “no” to new experiences and that is what I intend to do through this blog.

I also want to make my blog different than other lifestyle/fashion blogs. I mean, I’m a college student. I can’t afford super expensive clothes, or go jetting off to these extravagant locations and then blog about it.. My goal with this blog is to relate to people my own age, relate to college girls who are going through similar experiences that I am in college & keep my blog as real as possible. I hope you all are as excited about this blog as I am!
