Living Together in your 20’s: Survival Guide

Hey everyone!

I know I’ve been a bit MIA lately on this site, due to the overwhelming amount of events that have been happening around the nation, but I am finally back to my normal routine and I am feeling inspired and ready to jump back into posting every Tuesday. I know everything has been a little overwhelming lately, but I have been truing to remain positive and continue to educate myself on all the events that have been happening over the past few weeks. I am getting back into my normal content posting on both IG and this blog, but I still will continue to speak on my beliefs and support those who need support. With that being said, I hope you all have been staying safe and healthy. Nick and I have been doing well on the relationship aspect, although some days are better than others (which is totally normal). This is our first time living together officially and since the pandemic hit, we have been having to spend a lot more time together with both of us working from home and spending basically every waking moment together. Living with your significant other can be amazing but it can also be a challenge in itself. You will learn new things about the other person that you may have not known when you initially started dating. For those of you who are considering moving in with your significant other, I wanted to share some of my tips based off experiences Nick and I have had in our 480 sqft apartment.

Make sure you’re on the same page

Before moving in together, you need to make sure you and your significant other are on the same page in life. Luckily, Nick and I were engaged before moving into our current apartment in Jersey City so we knew that we were on the same page on our future together before locking into a lease together. There are other areas like finances or lifestyle choices, that you want to make sure you are aligned on before moving into a space together. If there is anything you are feeling unsure about in your relationship, then maybe you should have those discussions before signing a lease with this person.

Talk about finances

I know that finances can be such a taboo conversation in a lot of relationships, but you need to discuss finances before paying rent and bills together. Nick and I have basically combined (without actually combining) our funds. What I mean by this is, it’s not his money or my money, it’s our money. Make sure you have some kind of financial plan in order to check monthly spending and budget out expenses for the month. One of our main websites we use for tracking our expenses and monthly budgeting is through Everydollar. It’s free and super easy to use to help keep a rough estimate of our spending month over month. We aren’t tracking it to the very cent, but it’s just supposed to be used as a way to give us an idea of what we can spend and track savings for things like our wedding and future travels together!

Communicate, communicate communicate!

Now Nick and I are not always the best when it comes to communicating and we are working through it every day. However, when you move in with someone, communication is key! It’s weird because you may think you have communication down as a couple, but when you come together in one space, sometimes it can become more of an issue than some people realize. Relationships are all about feelings right? So if you are living in a space, then you should kick it up a notch. It’s stupid and miserable to fight over such small instances all the time, so if something like not doing the dishes or leaving the seat up all the time is bothersome to you, then you nip it in the but and move on. If it keeps happening then sit down and have a conversation about how it makes you feel. Either way, communicate with your significant other openly to keep yourselves from arguing about the little things constantly.

Establish your house rules

If you don’t have some rules in place on how you plan to keep everything together in your home, then I don’t know how you do it. One of the biggest things that Nick and I are working on is doing the dishes. I think in the beginning we had a good flow going, but as we got busier and possibly even lazier, I started to notice a dip in keeping things organized and clean around the apartment. Now for me, I am someone who loves her space to be cleaned and organized, because it helps with my sanity, especially now that I am working from home. Having some kind of system in place to help keep your home in order whether it’s cleaning or figuring out work schedule flow. This is also not only about cleaning, but having an understanding how the other person works through their normal day. A normal day for you may not be the exact same as your significant other, so establishing a system in your home to have a good flow throughout the day can be a key factor to establish before moving in together.

You don’t have to spend all day everyday together

I used to think that if Nick wanted to do something different than me, it meant that he didn’t want to spend time with me anymore, which could not have been more false. You are allowed to want time to yourself even when you are living together. There are days where Nick plays Call of Duty with his friends while I watch a few episodes of Sex and the City in the other room or work on writing. You are allowed to do other activities without feeling like you are ignoring the other person. A little separation when living together is normal and as long as you come together to do activities that you like doing together like movie nights, cooking dinner or going for walks around your neighborhood then you won’t get sick of each other so easily!

Never go to bed angry

The one rule that Nick and I have lived by throughout our relationship and since moving in together, is to never go to bed upset when having a fight. More so now that we share a small 480 sqft apartment we try our best to work through the argument (no matter how long it takes) before falling asleep. This has actually helped us a lot by clearing the air before falling asleep and waking up on a new page moving forward.

Don’t let designing your space create a wedge

I love aesthetics. There I said it! I love designing spaces and making everything look nice and believe me that is sometimes hard to do when living with a boy. Nick doesn’t really have much of an opinion when it comes to design or how our home should look, so luckily I was able to design how I’d like it. Now I don’t want that to come across as being selfish, but Nick and I have found an agreement that works best for our relationship. We compromise on designs for our home and I always ask his opinion on what he thinks of things before I just go and design our whole apartment. Just don’t let what kind of pillows you put on the bed or what kind of furniture pieces you have in your home create an issue in your relationship because believe me it’s not worth it. In all honesty, most guys don’t really care what the space looks like as long as they are living with you! Compromise on the areas you don’t care deeply about and work on building your home together.

Remember to have fun with each other

Above anything else, living together and moving into your first place together is supposed to be an exciting adventure! Yes there will be ups and downs, but just have fun, enjoy each other’s company. There are many things that need to be taken seriously before living with your significant other, but just remember not to take life too seriously your first time living together.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and hopefully learned something of use before moving in with your significant other. This can be a huge step and there is definitely a lot that obviously needs to be discussed, but just remember to enjoy the journey and try not to kill your partner in the process LOL. I hope you all are staying safe and sane out there and I can’t wait to talk to you all again next Tuesday!

15 Tips to Help Boost Your Self Confidence

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are doing amazing given the circumstances. Life here in Jersey City has been going okay. The weekend here was gorgeous so needless to say we were spending as much time as we could outside! I have been doing a lot of self-reflection about confidence especially since I have been living in leggings with my hair in a bun for the past 2 months. I thought we could all use a little confidence boost to brighten our spirits especially during this weird time when we are all feeling like hermits staying inside all day. I know some of these tips might sound repetitive or maybe a little cliche but these are just some little things you can do to help boost your self-confidence every day!

1. Dress Up

You don’t have to go full suit and tie or anything, but changing out of your sweatpants and hoodie can really make an impact on how you see yourself. Throwing on a pair of high-waisted loose fit jeans and a cute t-shirt and you’ll see yourself in a whole new light!

2. Positive Affirmations

I know every article you have probably been reading always says this, but it’s crazy what a little positive talk can do to help boost your confidence on days where you feel at a new low. Some examples can include, ” I love my body and everything it does for me,” or ” I am a fearless woman,” or ” I will do amazing things today.” Saying a few small phrases before starting your day or throughout the day can really bring a boost to your mood throughout the day.

3. Kill the negativity

I can be the worst offender when it comes to saying negative things about myself. When you surround yourself with negative images or people you can start to feel less confident in who you are. Try unfollowing accounts on IG who make you feel self-conscious about your body/personality or cut ties with people in your life who put a damper on your confidence. As a blogger, I follow a lot of people with perfectly curated Instagram posts, but I have chosen to unfollow those accounts who promote an image that I don’t necessarily want to see every day on my feed. Nothing against those other influencers, but I have personally found it to be better for my confidence to follow accounts who promote body positivity or fun/positive vibes on their page. The same thing goes for people, if you want to live in confidence, then you need to surround yourself with influences who build you up instead of making you feel inferior!

4. You can change your perspective

Maybe there are some things about yourself that you would love to change whether it be physically or personality-wise but you may not be able to change those things in real life. I know this might sound crazy, but I read an article that said to mentally photoshop yourself and it really stuck with me. If you are unable to physically change the way you see yourself, then why not try and mentally make yourself the “perfect” version of yourself.

5. Be kind and generous

When you give to other people who are in need, it definitely has an impact on how you will see yourself. Giving back is good for the soul so go out there and make someone’s day!

6. Accept your “imperfections”

Are there things I wish I could change about myself? Absolutely! But I have come to accept the parts of myself that I may not be able to change. Any time I am feeling down about myself whether it’s physically or personality-wise, Nick always reminds me to “rock what I got,” so that’s exactly what I do! Speaking on a physical note, I may never be able to change my wide hips, but I will rock what I got and love my body for everything it does for me.

7. Surround yourself with positive influences

This basically goes with getting rid of the point of the negative influence point I made earlier. When you surround yourself with positive influencers on social media or in real life, you feel better about yourself because of the good influence they give you!

8. Power pose it up!

You probably feel silly standing in front of a mirror and striking a pose to make you feel confident, but it has been proven to work in many situations when it comes to boosting self-confidence. Doing this can help you feel more aware of how you come across to others in your path. Maybe if power posing isn’t for you, the next time you are out and about, maybe try being more self-aware of your body language in certain situations can be a helpful tactic in giving you more confidence throughout your day!

9. Jam out

Every day before work (before quarantine) I always make it a must to play confidence generating playlist or podcasts in the morning. Dancing and jamming out to music that makes you feel excited and ready to attack the day just puts you in a confident mindset. Some of my favorite playlists are Confidence Boost, Mood Booster, or any playlist under the Mood category in Spotify!

10. Sweat out any frustrations

Whenever I’m feeling down about myself, the one thing that always helps is to do some form of physical activity. This could be anything from doing a full-body sweat sesh or going for a walk around your neighborhood. After you sweat out your discomforts, it can be a huge mood booster for the rest of your day.

11. Just say F*** it!

One thing that has really helped me with my confidence is just learning to not give a f*** about what people think about me! I know that it can be easier said than done and believe me there are some days where I can’t help but compare myself to others, but you are perfect the way you are and you are uniquely you. So don’t worry about what others are thinking about you because it’s not worth your time or energy!

12. Groom Yourself

When you walk around feeling gross then obviously your confidence isn’t going to be super high because you probably aren’t feeling your best. A small disclaimer, I think all of you reading this are beautiful just the way you are and you don’t need makeup or a fresh blowout every day to feel confident and beautiful. All I’m saying is that when you put a little effort into your appearance it can make all the difference compared to if you were just sitting lounging around all day in nothing but sweats and your hair in a knotted bun. There is no better feeling than walking around after just getting your hair done, eyebrows waxed, or throw on a little bit of makeup just to make yourself feel like a new human!

13. Do some soul searching

Last year I did some “soul searching” to try and figure out why I was feeling so down about myself and why little things that would happen would completely deplete my confidence. I really got to the root of all my insecurities and tried focused on trying to slowly heal myself from the inside out in order to help myself feel more naturally confident in my day to day life. This was definitely not an easy process and I am still working on it every day, but once you get to a root of a problem, it can be a little bit easier to build up your confidence every day!

14. Quit comparing yourself

This kind of goes hand in hand with the “just say f*** it” point I made. Once you stop comparing yourself to other people, you will be that much happier with yourself. Especially as females, we should be bringing each other up instead of judging and comparing one another.

15. You’re awesome, never forget that

Plain and simple! No one is ever allowed to dull your shine, so go out in the world and be the amazing person you are.

Again, I know that some of these points can sound a little cliche, but if any one of these points is something that you needed to hear today, then that is all the satisfaction I need from you reading this post. Confidence can come in waves, some days you are just going to be more confident than others, but I hope that some of these tips can help you get you to a place where you feel amazing about yourself in every aspect of the word. Share some of your tips and tricks below in the comments & I can’t wait to talk again next Tuesday!

CAUSEBOX Spring Unboxing + Review

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are still staying safe and healthy at home. Things have been okay here in Jersey City. I feel like things have been getting boring life-wise here because being stuck inside all the time, not much has really been happening. I am so missing wearing normal clothes to work and getting dressed up to go out. It’s funny the things you start to miss when you have nowhere to be! The online shopping has been at an all time high since we’ve been in quarantine because it gives me something to look forward to every week. Don’t worry I haven’t bought anything lately, but I’m sure there will be more cool things to look forward to. One of the boxes I received (and was super excited about) was CAUSEBOX! If you haven’t heard of CAUSEBOX before, it’s a similar quarterly subscription box service like FabFitFun, except all of the products you receive in CAUSEBOX support small sustainable and charitable businesses around the globe. I came across their brand through a couple of unboxing videos on YouTube and they products that came in the box seemed like they would be way more my style and taste today. So, I gave their brand a shot and decided to do a little unboxing review for you all so you can get a first hand look at everything you could receive on a quarterly basis through the year! So with that all said, I hope you enjoy reading.

Pixie Mood Zoe Crossbody

When I first saw this in the box, I was completely in love! Not only is the material high quality but it is totally my style and the perfect simple addition to any outfit. The material is vegan leather (which we love) and it comes in a variety of colors including honey, black and gray!

Bentgo Stackable Bento Box

This box is not only aesthetically pleasing but it sustainably replaces single-use plastic alternatives and donates money to Feed the Children! I love products that have a cause and donate proceedings to charities. Overall the quality of the box is a great go-to for snacks on the go for work or trips. I do wish it could be a little bit larger, so it can hold a bit more, but overall I really love this product!

Artisan Direct Sustainable Grocery Starter Kit

One thing that I have become accustomed to since moving to the city has been the importance of reusable bags when it comes to shopping, grocery shopping to be specific. Everywhere you go you see people using reusable bags and these adorable knit sustainable grocery bags have been the perfect aesthetically pleasing way to shop around Jersey City. Definitley check out this brand and do your part to stop using plastic bags in your town!

Earth Harbor Reparative Eye Cream

I have been using this every morning and night and boy have I seen quite the improvement in my undereye issues! The product is super gentle on your skin, combines seaweed collagen, blue tansy, and plant oils to help replenish and restore the skin around your eyes. It has been super soothing under my eyes in the morning and this product helps keep everything tight and hydrated overnight. There has definitley been an improvement under my eyes since I have started using this product and I highly recommend for you to check out their business!

Cardea Auset CALM Mood Mist

This spray has been life saving when it comes to putting me asleep. It is lavender scented and one spray can go a long way! I have found this product to be super helpful in relaxing me before bed and helping my to wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready to attack the day. Definitley a new must-have in my everyday routine!

Fosterie Layered Gem Necklace

I am not typically a gold jewelry kinda girl, but I will make the acception for this necklace! It is simple and goes with a lot of the items I have in my closet which is perfect for my everyday style. The necklace was specially made for Causebox, but Fosterie has a ton of other simple and unique jewelry pieces to shop from!

Simple Self Daily Self-Care Planner

This has been another product that I have been using every day since I received it. The planner is supposed to be a 13-week self care plan of action to help better your lifestyle day to day based on a self-care insight quiz you take in the beginning of the book! I have actually found this book to be super helpful in organizing my day to day life. It’s similar to what you would put into a bullet journal without having to draw everything out yourself! The layout and design of the journal is super cute and the the daily layout section every week has been amazing at keeping me in line with my goals/habits every day that I am shooting to accomplish! Highly recommend and you really can’t beat the price.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this post. If you have a pretty similar style and product preference to me, then you definitley need to check out CAUSEBOX! Everything you receive has such a sweet message and business creating the products you see in every box. Let me know if you’d like me to do more CAUSEBOX unboxing and reviews in the comments below and I’d be happy to share more information on the subscription service with you all. I’ll talk to you all again next Tuesday!

Latest Obsessions + May Goals 2020

Hey everyone!

It is officially the start of a new week and we are still stuck inside, but hey we are thriving and making it work every day. Lately, online shopping and treating myself has been real. A lot of new packages have been coming in since my birthday and I received lots of Amazon gift cards which have been put to good use, so I have a lot of new obsessions this month that I am so pumped to share with you all. I can’t believe it has already been 8 weeks in quarantine. I am honestly so shocked that this is all still going on, but I hope that everyone is taking proper precautions and trying to stay as safe and healthy as you can. Nick and I have been very healthy so far which is relieving to both of us, so no need to worry there! There really haven’t been any crazy life updates happening because life is kind of put on pause at the moment. We have started a little wedding planning, which is super exciting! Nothing is booked yet obviously because we are having a long engagement, but we have been gathering ideas, creating a guest list and budgeting out as much as we can for the time being. I will be sure to keep you guys updated as much as I can with what’s new with life and the wedding, so be sure to keep a close lookout. Let’s dive into this new post!

Rayban Sunglasses

I just received these super gorgeous hexagonal sunnies as part of a birthday gift from my parents and I am totally in love! They actually fit my face way better than my OG pair of Rayban sunglasses and are super modern and match my current style to a T.

I decided a few months ago that I would give the subscription box, Causebox a try just to try out a few new things and see if it is more my style. I have to say I am absolutely in love! Literally, all the products I received I have found a use for in my everyday life. The thing I really love about the products in the box is that they all have a ’cause’ around them, obviously. If you have been looking to try out a new subscription box that helps support small businesses/charities and provides you with chic new products to try, then you NEED to try Causebox!

Big Little Lies

I know I am way late on watching this show, but ya girl doesn’t have HBO so I couldn’t watch it when it was popular. They put it on Hulu so I have been binging the first 2 seasons on my downtime which has been super addicting! The show is super captivating and all the actors and actresses in the show are amazing in their roles. If you need a new show to watch while stuck in quarantine, you definitely need to give this show a chance!

Two-Piece Jogger Sets

Now that we are in quarantine, comfy has been the only way to describe my wardrobe choices during the day. While I’m working, I try to throw on a loose pair of jeans or a comfy jogger set! Honestly, I typically opt for the jogger set most days because I can be comfortable, but still feel productive during the day. Not only are these sets so cute to wear, they are the perfect go to for when you want to be cozy chic while working from home. Definitley check out Aerie and Target for some adorable tie-dye sets!

Noted By Nicole

So one of my good friends has her own clothing customization brand titled Noted by Nicole and it is so amazing! I am not only so proud of my friend but the custom notes that she stitches on shirts are super sweet and the clothing pieces are so comfy and adorable. She made me an adorable cropped bleach tie-dyed sweatshirt that has the saying, “Grow Into Yourself,” stitched into the fabric. I definitely love it and if you need an adorable custom print to complete your closet, then you definitely should check out her IG page Noted By Nicole!

Now time for some goals:

  • Start a new book while in quarantine
  • No more excuses when it comes to working out at home
  • Organize our living room
  • Have a romantic indoor date night
  • Learn a new skill for work

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I have a positive feeling that things are going to start getting better this month, so I’m really hoping I’m right about it. Summer is right around the corner folks and ya girl is not missing out on any beach time here on the east coast. Stay safe and healthy friends, I’ll talk to you next Tuesday!

My Must-Have Skincare Products + My Thoughts

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are hanging in there. This week has actually kicked off on a good note, which is a new feeling while we are in quarantine. Over the weekend, it was SO nice outside, which was definitely a mood booster, plus Nick and I got a lot of spring cleaning and organizing done which has really helped with my productivity mindset! I feel like now that we are entering week 7, I have FINALLY gotten into a groove with my routine for working from home as well as my morning and night routines. Self-care has also been at an all-time high since we have been self-isolating in our apartment because now I have more time in the morning and at night to take my time and enjoy both routines.  Lately, I have been on a kick with trying new products (specifically skincare) and after years of trying different products, I have finally come to find the top products that I love and use daily. Now, I definitely know that there will probably be more products that I come across that will probably end up replacing these products, but at this moment in time, these products are the go-to everyday skincare products that I love and highly recommend!

Mary Kay Clearproof Cleanser & Moisturizer

I have literally been using this product since before high school and this product has not proved my skin wrong yet! It is very gentle and deep cleanses your skin making it feel super clean and refreshed for the rest of your skincare routine. I know that everyone’s skin is different and different products work for different skin types, this product just happens to be MY go-to when it comes to cleansers and moisturizers.

Innisfree Volcanic Clusters Pore Clearing Toner

A recent toner I have fallen in love with that is reasonably priced for being a high-quality toner. I hate toners that sting and irritate my skin. This product is super gentle on your face and it definitely feels like it is cleaning our your pores after using it. It smells amazing and it has definitely helped get any excess dirt or makeup off my face at the beginning and end of every day!

The Better Skin Co. Epik C Serum

I never used to use serums or similar products on my skin because I didn’t really see the point, but once I tried this serum, my whole opinion changed. Not only does this smell great, but it has been great for helping nourish my skin after cleansing and toning. I typically use a vitamin c serum to help brighten up my skin in the morning and it works wonders!

Face Hero Oil

I have been using this for almost a full year which has been great in tightening and refreshing my skin both in the morning and overnight. I use it every other morning and night to help give my skin a little break if it needs it from the excess oils and such. It is super nurturing and it has really helped my skin feel more firm and and soft throughout the day!

Murad Collagen Infusion (Morning)

I received this product in my most recent FabFitFun box and I have really come to love its effects on my skin. It’s helpful in the sense that it refreshes my skin in the morning and helps me look more awake for the rest of the day. It is a little bit pricy and I can work on finding a cheaper option to link, but the results are definitely worth the price,

Laneige Lavender Sleep Face Mask (Night)

I have heard really awesome things about Laneige and their skincare products, so I knew I needed to try them out. They are super gentle on your skin (which I love) and it has really been improving the softness and freshness of my skin when I wake up every morning. A little bit really does go a long way so I don’t run the risk of going through this product too quickly. This is definitely one of my more affordable skincare products and product lines that I would highly recommend to any of my friends who have sensitive skin and need a gentle sleep mask to help with hydration!

Laneige Sleep Lip Mask (Morning + Night)

This is another product from Laneige that I use mainly at night, but I like to throw it on in the morning after brushing my teeth. I’ve never thought about purchasing a lip mask until recently, but with the weather being up and down lately, sometimes my lips can get really dry which is just gross and uncomfortable. I highly recommend this product because it helps moisturize and soothe your lips overnight so you wake up with softer and hydrated lips in the morning! Most definitely a must-have for any skincare routine.

Pixi Beauty Detoxifeye Eye Patches

I found these through another MI influencer I follow and I am so obsessed with them. I struggle so much with under-eye puffiness and darkness in the morning, even when I sleep really well, and I have tried lots of under eye treatments to help soothe or tighten under my eye in the morning, but these are by far one of my new go-to’s for under-eye care. The brand Pixi Beauty has a few other eye patches that can be used to target other under-eye issues you may be having, but these are perfect if you struggle with puffiness in the morning!

V-Line Lifting Mask

The same influencer who shared the eye patches also shared these amazing chin lifting masks that help shape your chin. I got them off amazon and even though you may look absolutely ridiculous, they are oddly soothing to wear around your home and they also work super well! The masks are meant to help with wrinkles, chin sagging, double chin problems, and provide tons of hydration to your skin. I do not use this every day because I believe only 5 masks come in a pack, but they are definitely nice to use every once in a while in the morning. I almost have to laugh at myself for buying and liking this product as much as I do, but hey they work and have been a fun thing to try!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post! I know that everyone’s skin type is different and requires different products, but these are the products I have found and that have really been helping with my personal skincare routine. Now that we are stuck in our homes for a little while longer, why not try some new products and pamper yourself a little bit? I linked all the products in case you want to try them and if any of you have your own recommendations to share, please let me know in the comments because I would love to check them out. I hope you guys have a great rest of your week and I can’t wait to talk to you guys again next Tuesday!

Quarantine Activities to Keep You Sane + Life Update

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all are hanging in there. I feel like I am starting to lose track of the days that we are stuck inside, which has been an odd feeling. Needless to say the binging of shows and movies is at an all-time high for me at the moment. Now that we are in week 6 of working from home and being inside all the time, I thought it would be nice to share some activities that you can do while staying inside or things you can do outside in a safe environment. Some of these activities I am sharing with you I have not personally done yet, but are things I am definitely thinking about trying! I am open to trying and doing new things and now I kinda have an excuse to do all these new activities that maybe I wouldn’t have a chance to do back in my normal routine.

My family is notorious for sending puzzles to Nick and me to drive us crazy, but I have to admit that has been a little fun while we are locked in our apartment most of the time! Yes, puzzles can still be frustrating at times, but the sense of accomplishment you get after completing one is like nothing else.

Paint By Numbers/Crafts in General

I honestly haven’t done paint by number or a craft in god knows how long, but I figured hey while in quarantine why not?! It has actually been super relaxing and fun to just sit, watch a movie, paint and drink wine. I highly recommend if you are a crafty person looking for something to do. Who knows you may end up with a new piece of art to hang in your home!

Selfcare Nights

If you know me, you know that I am a HUGE self-care nut, so needless to say I have been taking advantage of my time during my morning and night routines. I love putting essential oils in my shower to help me cleanse morning and night. Throw on a face mask, start yourself a bath/shower, light a few candles and relax/

This is dependent on how I am feeling for the day, but I have come to the realization that staying semi-active during quarantine is important for my sanity. I have not been super perfect about this because most days it is easier to just lay around all day, but find a workout routine to do inside, do some yoga in the morning or get some fresh air and go for a run. Whatever it may be, just get your body moving!

Read that book you have been meaning to read

I need to be better with this because lord knows it can be really tempting to sit and scroll through Tik Toks most nights, but now that I have more time after work and in the morning, I am working to try and read one of my many books for 30 minutes. Now that I have more time on my hands, why not make more of an effort to sit with a good book and read!

Try some new recipes

Since moving, Nick and I have gotten more into cooking and trying different recipes. Now that we are in quarantine, the love for cooking and trying new things has only gotten stronger! Now that we are stuck inside why not try and learn a new skill. So order your Hello Fresh or pick up some fresh groceries (stay safe while doing so) and get cooking!

Rearrange/Reorganize your space

Spring cleaning is among us and there is no better time to refresh, clean maybe even rearrange your space.  Now that we are spending more time inside, sometimes looking at the same space can be a little triggering. So try something new, move some things around or just clean around your space. On a normal day, it can seem like a chore, but now that we have more time on our hands, there is actually something therapeutic and relaxing about refreshing your space!

Go for a long walk

Unfortunately, Nick and I do not have a backyard space for our apartment and all of our local parks have been shut down due to this pandemic. So we have been trying to go for walks around our neighborhood to try and get some exercise and fresh air outside of our apartment. If it’s a beautiful day outside, then get your butt off the couch and walk around your neighborhood for a while.

Nick has been doing this more than I have, but if you love videogames then now is the time for you to boost your skills at playing a game you just bought.

Try some trending TikToks

TikTok has become a bit of an obsession for Nick and I. We just love to watch people being creative and funny on the app and it helps the time go by while we are stuck in our teeny tiny apartment. We have been trying a few TikTok trends that we have seen circulating on our ‘For You’ pages which have been another fun way to pass the time. Whipped Coffee is a 100/10, if you haven’t tried it yet, it literally took us 10 minutes and it was such a fun treat in the morning. If you have a TikTok and you have seen new products, recipes or dances that you never in a million years thought you’d do, well nows your chance to step outside your comfort zone and try something new!

Movie Nights

I’m not just saying throw on a movie and watch it like you would do any other normal night, I’m saying go all out! Make it like a movie theater experience for you and your family or you and your significant other you are quarantined with. Make the popcorn, grab some sweets, pour yourself a drink and make your self comfortable for a fun new feature right in your home! You can even invite your family and friends to watch the movie with you on a Zoom call or the new video share thing that Netflix is doing. Make it a fun night for you and your family!

Throw a Zoom Happy Hour with family and friends

My work team and I have been throwing SO many happy hour Zoom calls, it’s crazy but also so fun! It’s nice to talk with everyone in a casual setting and just talk about life (even though there may not be much going on). Staying connected with friends and family has been super important for Nick and me because we just recently moved and it’s hard not being able to go see anyone or have people come out to visit us. So, being connected with everyone as much as we can have been a big priority for us and it really perks up our moods when we get to talk with everyone we love!

Do something fun with your appearance

Now that we are stuck inside our appearance can be changed without fear of people seeing it. I have seen people temporarily dying their hair or experimenting with different makeup looks. DO NOT CUT YOUR BANGS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! I have seen way too many people cutting their own bangs and the results are not the best, so just avoid that. Nick wanted me to give him highlights one night because he wanted to try something different, so we got some box dye and had a fun little salon night in our place! I mean we’re both getting our haircut after quarantine is done, so why not experiment with something new?

Obviously, there are a lot more fun activities you could do while in quarantine, these are just some activities I have either personally tried or want to try in the time we are stuck inside. Let me know if you have any fun activities that you have been doing in quarantine and share them in the comments! I’m always open to new fun things to try and lord knows we have the time. I hope you enjoyed this post and I can’t wait to talk to you all again next week!

My 23rd Birthday + Life Lessons to my Younger Self

Hey Everyone ~

The week is finally here and I am so excited to celebrate my 23rd birthday this Thursday! Not gonna lie, not exactly how I thought I’d be spending my 23rd birthday in NYC but hey we will roll with the punches and make the best out of this situation. It is so weird to think that in only a day I will be 23 years old. Honestly, I feel like it hasn’t hit me quite yet, but I’m excited to see what’s going to happen during my 23rd year! The past few birthday blogs I’ve written, I’ve talked about what I have learned over the years, this year I thought I would switch it up and write a short “letter” to my younger self talking about things I wish I would have done or chances I should have taken over the years. So, here goes nothing!

1. Your thoughts manifest into something real

I cannot tell you the number of times that I have jinxed myself or have blessed myself by having a thought (good or bad) and watched it come to manifest in my life. If you have positive thoughts, then positive things will come to life!

2. Accept the things you can’t change

I know it can be hard to let things go and move on from past events, but you can’t change the past, so you just have to move forward and continue to live your life.

3. Don’t settle

Not for people and not for any circumstance. It took me a long time to figure this out, so I hope if you are reading this, then please just remember to not settle for anything less than what you deserve.

4. Stop caring about what everyone thinks of you

It’s not worth your time, so find comfort in knowing that you are amazing as you are!

5. Your vibe determines those who surround you

If you want to be happy, then surround yourself with happy/positive people! Don’t let negative people suck out your light.

6. Listen to your body

If your body is telling you to take a break, then listen to your body and don’t push it

7. Saying “NO” is not a bad thing

If you don’t want to do something then you don’t need to agree to it regardless of

8. Never go to bed angry

Something I have learned since being with Nick is the importance of not going to sleep upset because it can only lead to more problems the next morning.

9. Grudges can be draining

The amount of times I have held a grudge towards someone or about a situation is way too many to count. It can be exhausting holding onto something, so my advice is to take a breath and move on because it’s not worth your time!

10. Your love language speaks volumes about you

Learning about your “love language” can really help determine how you receive and give love, which can be a really big help in any relationship.

11. Don’t take your friendships for granted

Ever since we’ve moved, I’ve been really trying to make an effort to keep in touch with friends from home. Your friendships are important and I never want you to take those relationships for granted.

12. Live in the moment

Need I say more? Just live for the present and enjoy the moments you are living now.

13. Don’t feel bad about taking “ME” time

I used to always feel bad if I took time away from someone else to focus on my wellbeing, but what I needed to realize was that taking time for myself is OKAY! Don’t let yourself fall into the background just so you can take care of someone else’s needs.

14. Don’t be afraid to go against the flow

March to the beat of your own drum!

15. Don’t be afraid of change

I am still very resistant to big changes in my life. If I like how something is working, then I do my best to hold onto it with everything I have. I have made strides to not allow changes in my life to rock my whole world. You just have to take each day as it comes and just enjoy the changes that may come into your life. Who knows, these changes could change your life for the better!

16. Your dreams are not invalid, so chase them

If you have a dream that you want to reach, then no situation and no one should be able to stand in your way of reaching that dream.

17. Less is MORE

Especially now that we are living close to the city, downsizing was a MUST! Not just downsizing in belongings, this phrase can be used in any situation that you may come across in life.

18. Appreciate everything

Appreciate all the little things, big things, family, friendships, relationships, life, etc. The list could go on and on!

19. You are loved, so love yourself

This took me a long time to grasp. You have so many people who love you for who you are, so you need to love yourself for exactly who you are.

20. Trust in a power higher than yourself

I believe that there is a plan and a reason for everything that happens in my life, so I choose to trust that plan and go forth in life knowing that someone is guiding my path.

21. Work hard for what you want

Plain and simple. If you want something, then work hard to make the means to get it for yourself.

22. If you’re stressed, take a break

I know myself and I know that I can sometimes work myself into a frenzy and I forget to take a second to breathe and take a break for myself. So if you feel stressed, then take a break to focus on yourself!

23. Listen to your heart

If your heart is not fully invested into something, then you need to listen to it and be willing to make a change wherever you think it’s necessary. Whatever you do, just go into it with your whole heart.

I know that some of these lines can sound cheesy or maybe even a little boring to read, but if there was anything I wish I would have known when I was younger, it would be these little bits of advice I have learned over the years. I know I am still young and I still have a lot that I will be learning every day after this birthday. I hope you all are remaining safe and healthy out there. We are just taking things day by day at the moment, but I am remaining hopeful that we will come out on the other side of this stronger than ever. I will talk to you guys again real soon!

Latest Obsessions + April Goals 2020

Hey everyone!

Well, another day stuck inside, but hey we are working to stay safe and healthy during this time. Nick and I are doing well here in Jersey City, staying sane and trying hard not to get on each other’s nerves. We have finally made it to April, which is my birthday month and I am excited to turn 23 this year. I have no clue what my day will bring considering we are still in this unexpected time, but I am maintaining a positive outlook and am looking forward to spending my birthday here on the east coast! I am so pumped to share my latest obsessions and goals for this month. The online shopping and show binging has been real while we’ve been in quarantine so needless to say I have been trying lots of new products and shows out to share with all of you!

Love Is Blind

THIS SHOW. I am a sucker for dumb, mindless drama-filled shows and this one takes the cake. I honestly didn’t think I would be so invested in this show, the couples or the drama (#cam&lauren4eva and #Im34) but I absolutely 100% love this show. I believe I binged it in 2 days, maybe less than that? If you have not watched Love is Blind yet, you definitely need to check it out because it’s amazing!

Murad Collagen Infusion Cream

I recently received this product in my last FabFitFun unboxing and I have loved using it. Murad’s products are somewhat of a hit or miss for me, but this one is one of my new favorites. It’s so gentle on the skin and I definitely have been noticing a difference in my skin texture. So 10/10 would recommend it to you!

I recently fell back in love with the Bootay Bag brand again! For those of you who don’t know, this brand is a monthly underwear subscription service for females that only costs $10/month. You sign up, answer a short little questionnaire and every month you will receive two cute pieces to try! They are super comfortable, very modern and fun. I can’t wait to receive more next month. I linked their website for you to check out if you are interested!

Lavender + Eucalyptus Room Spray

I actually saw this product on a TikTok binge. I believe the video was one of those ‘must-haves from Target’ videos? Anyways, this is definitely a must-have for your apartment. Nick and I live in a much older apartment building so sometimes it can smell a little musty (which is not a vibe at all), so I picked up this spray from Target and it has definitely helped lighten any smells through our apartment! It’s a very simple smell that is very relaxing, which I love and it only takes around 2-3 sprays to rid any smells from your space. Definitely impressed and I will link the product for you to check out!

Target Two Piece Set

Since I have started working from home I have been on the hunt for a comfy two-piece set to cozy up in while I get sh*t done. I never used to think of Target as a place where I could pick up quality clothing, let alone stylish clothing, but low and behold, I found this amazing two-piece jogger set and it is on a whole other level of comfy! I linked it to this post for you to check out if you’d like to own one as well. If you don’t like the nude/white tie-dye look, Target has TONS of other options for you to choose from!

Static Nails

So since everything has basically closed down since COVID-19, the nail salon that I have been going to since we moved to Jersey City has unfortunately been closed as well. I hate the way my nails look because I am a notorious nervous nail-picker. However, I found a solution that may not only help me not pick, but also save a lot of money on my nails in the future! Static nails are a super easy nail kit that mimics the look of gel nails but without the destruction of your actual nail. It also only cost me $16!! Like, excuse me? Heck yeah, I’m going to do this instead! They felt a little weird in the beginning, but after wearing them for a little bit, they definitely became more natural.

Now time for some goals:

  • Do something fun for my birthday in spite of quarantine
  • Master another program at work
  • Grow my following on IG to 1,050
  • Get back into an at-home workout routine
  • Have at least 2 romantic date nights in our apartment
  • Finish reading half of The Testaments book

I’m sending you all my positive vibes and love that I can during this weird time we are in at the moment. I hope reading these posts that I have been putting out has been a nice break away from reality. I hope you all stay safe and healthy and I can’t wait to talk to you all again soon. ALSO, I’d love to hear your goals and obsessions for this month, so share some of them below!

Productive Work/Study From Home Tips + Tricks

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone is staying safe and sane throughout this whole crazy environment we are living in. This week is the 3rd week I have been working from home and I can’t lie, there are some days where it has been relaxing and other days where I definitely miss being at the office. But nonetheless, it’s the situation we are in right now which is why I’m sharing my tips on how to make the best of it! Comment below your favorite tips & tricks on how you manage to work or study from home.

Change out of your Pajamas

I find myself being more productive when I actually feel like a human being. The first day I started working from home, I stayed in my PJ’s all day and for the life of me, I could not focus 100% on what needed to get done that day. I found myself too distracted by every little thing, I just felt the urge to want to cuddle up and just relax. I’m not saying that you need to get all dressed up to work from your couch, but I do recommend showing, throw on some leggings and an oversized sweater of some sort and feel like a human! I definitely feel more productive when I make an attempt to be showered and dressed overstaying in my PJ’s while I work.

Make your bed & leave your bed for sleeping

Once Nick is up and out of bed, the first thing I do is go into our room and make the bed. This has helped me feel more at ease during the day and has decreased my desire to crawl back into bed during the day. The way our apartment is laid out, I can see the bed from our couch. It’s weird, but if the bed is not made and I’m working in our living room, I can’t help but keep eyeing it if it’s not made, which in turn creates more distraction throughout my day. So the moral of the story is, make your bed in the morning! Just do it.

Wake up earlier than your designated work time

I have talked about this extensively on my blog about the importance of waking up earlier and trying to start my day earlier even though I may not have to log in on my computer till 9 am. The first day I worked from home, I slept until 8am or close to 8:30 because I thought, “this is great, I can wake up a little later and not have to worry about getting ready.” Boy was I wrong. I felt sluggish all day, my mind was not 100% ready to work just yet when I had to log on. Long story short it was a struggle! Some of you may think I’m crazy for waking up at 7 to start my day before working at 9 am, but truth be told, not all of us will be working from home forever. So I found it important for me to still wake up semi-early to try and maintain my normal routine when I have to commute and go back to work in our office. Waking up early allows me time to sit with my cup of coffee, sit and unwind, and just allow myself to wake up at my own pace!

Create a designated workspace

Since Nick and I have a very small 480sqft apartment, there was not a lot of room for a desk, which has made working from home a little difficult. But, we are adjusting and making it work while we are self quarantined at home. My advice to you is to find a designated workspace where you feel like you can sit and get work done in a productive way. Since we don’t have a desk, I have opted for our couch. My bed is meant for sleeping and I try to keep my bed as my relaxing space over my productive space! Every day, I burn a candle, set up my work station at my coffee table and I focus on what needs to get done for the day.

Have a set plan for the day

I try my best to have a plan of action set for my day. I typically split my to-do list into ‘work’ and ‘personal’ to-dos in order to separate the important things that need to get done for my job and the personal things that can wait until I have a break or once I have logged off for the night. I also write out the 3 most important things that need to get done first and foremost for both work and personal and start there, instead of writing out 10 things that need to get done for each and end up not focusing on the most important tasks at hand. I also aim to schedule everything out for the day. Not just to-do’s but also my lunch breaks so my team knows when I plan to take a lunch, schedule time to do small chores around the apartment (if my day allows me to), etc. Mapping out every aspect of your day definitely sets you up to have the best productive day you can have and I highly recommend doing it!

Put on some tunes or podcasts that help you focus

When I really need to focus on something, I love to put on music to listen to. It helps me get in the right focused mindset for the day. My top focus playlists or motivating podcasts would be The Goal Digger Podcast, RISE Podcast, That Creative Life Podcast, Lo-Fi Beats Playlist or the Productive Morning Playlist all on Spotify!

Take 10-minute breaks throughout your day

Something I have learned while working from home has been the importance of taking time for yourself and taking breaks away from your computer for a few minutes at a time. For the sake of your sanity and wellbeing, be sure to take a break away from staring at your computer screen and go for a short walk or do a few yoga stretches to unwind!

Stay active throughout your day

This kind of goes hand in hand with my last point about taking breaks throughout the day. Especially with everything going on in the world, and a lot of places closing temporarily it can be difficult to go to the gym nowadays. I also believe that because I am not walking every day to work for the time being, I have found myself becoming lazier when it comes to keeping active. You almost have to force yourself to get up and get moving throughout the day to keep semi-active for the time being. Whether you get up and walk, run, do yoga, or do a quick ab workout in your living room, you want to make sure you are keeping your activities up while we are inside!

Manage your time on your phone/social media

On the first day working from home, I definitely found myself more distracted from my phone than normal, which did not do great things for my productivity. So I decided to designate specific times where I can check my phone for a social media break and when I need to put it away and use it only for music. There is also using your phone in a productive way over just using it as a form of distraction. If you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through your phone and you have refreshed your Twitter or Instagram multiple times, then you probably are not using your phone productively. Sometimes it’s best to just put it away and only break it out during a break or for music!

I hope this post gives you some ideas to incorporate into your own routines while you are working or studying from home. I can’t wait to talk to you all again soon and I hope you are all staying safe and healthy out there!
