FabFitFun Unboxing + Review 2020

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are doing well and staying safe out there. The social distancing and working from home 24/7 has really been taking a toll on Nick and I lately, but we are doing our best to remain positive and not allow our selves to feel defeated during this time of uncertainty. On a more positive note, I received my latest FabFitFun box which is exciting! As you probably all know I have been sharing the FabFitFun boxes with you for a little over 2 years (I think) and I still love them so much. Honestly, you can’t beat the price for all the quality products you receive! It’s a 250+ value for only $49.99 which is incredible. Over the past few years, I have received lots of high-quality products from Tarte Cosmetics, Ouai hair products, Kate Spade, etc. If you are like me and love trying new products, then you should definitely try these boxes out. So when I do these box reviews, I typically try out all the products in my box for a week to get a thorough understanding of how the products worked for me personally and how well the box captured my personality by using the results from the quiz I took in the beginning. DONNI Ribbed Seater Coat 

This was one of my add on choices and honestly, it is so cozy and comfortable! It’s a very lightweight long knitted sweater that makes the perfect morning robe or a work from home addition to my wardrobe. I tried to find a link for this sweater, unfortunately I was not able to, but if I end up finding one, I will be sure to let you know if you are interested in this sweater!

Gravity Weighted Sleep Mask

This is such a game-changing product that I have fallen in love with! No joke, I have been using this product every night since I received it. I think it has honestly been helping me sleep A LOT better because it’s blocking out any light that could be coming from the street and the weighted aspect of the mask I believe has helped calm my mind and has actually helped me fall asleep a lot faster. This product is a 10/10 for me and I would absolutely recommend this for anyone who loves weighted blankets and masks as much as I do!

Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion

It is taking everything in me not to go through this product so fast because I have been using it almost every morning and night. I love the Murad brand and their skincare products have been so good for my skin and this infusion mask has been my new favorite addition to my morning and night skincare routine. The collagen is meant to help minimize the looks of lines and wrinkles on your face. Now I know I don’t have any crazy wrinkles or lines on my face, but hey no harm in starting to maintain those early on! After using it a few times, I have noticed a big difference in my skin and it actually appears to be more hydrated and smooth. I 100% recommend it to you!

Aria Beauty Luxe Detangling Electroplated Brush

I have been in the market for a new brush and the fact that I received one in this box, was a god sent. The thing that makes this brush different from other brushes, is its extended bristles to help easily detangle your hair and reduce stress on your hair. Having super thick hair can make it difficult to detangle your hair without feeling like you are ripping your hair from your head, so this brush has been truly a lifesaver for my hair!

This Works Deep Sleep Body Cocoon

Along with the weighted sleep mask, this is another product I have been using every night since I received the box last week! A couple boxes back, I received a deep sleep spray which I used basically every night because it smelled amazing and it helped me relax and fall asleep. This lotion is made by the same brand and is basically the spray, just in lotion form. I have been running it on my hands, arms and on my chest to make sure I get the full effect of the product. It definitely helps you fall asleep a little quicker and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to attack your day!

Winky Lux Rainbow Lip Balm

I liked the idea of this lip balm with the rainbow pattern, however this didn’t really work for me. I am a person who loves simplicity and has a very neutral aesthetic, so the fact that this lip balm left a very vibrant pink stain on my lips, didn’t really work for my personal style. Now if you love bright and vibrant lip balms, then this brand and product are for you! Even if the color didn’t work for me, the formula was really great and hydrating. So not a hit for me personally, but if you love vibrant lip colors, then absolutely check out this brand!

Chic & Tonic Set of 4 Silicone Straws + Brush Cleaner

I have been wanting to jump on the metallic/silicone straw trend for quite a while now, so I was very excited to receive this product in my box this season! Not only are these great for the environment, but they are also super easy to clean and pack away for traveling purposes. Definitely be sure to check out this brand if you have been looking for some new reusable straws!

The Better Skin Co. Epic C Serum

This is another product I received that I have been using almost every day. This serum is meant to tighten, brighten and revitalize your skin which I can definitely confirm that it does just that. It is so gentle on the skin and you can use it in the morning or at night. Personally, I have been using this product in the morning to give my skin the appearance that it is brighter and tighter than it appears when I first wake up in the morning!

Overall, I think this season’s box was a success! I still highly recommend these boxes to anyone who is looking to try out new products or brands. Most of the brands I receive I have never heard of, so it’s always exciting to try something new and possibly fall in love with a new brand you may have never previously been aware of. My 9-5 Morning + Night Routine

Hey everyone!

Needless to say, the past couple of weeks have been a little crazy amidst the COVID-19 virus that has been affecting the US. I hope you all are staying safe and cautious with everything you are doing. I have been working from home the past few workdays, which has been nice not having to wake up so early, but I’m definitely missing working in an actual office at a desk as opposed to working from my couch. I am trying to keep the positive vibes alive because I know how much we need them in these times of uncertainty. I will be continuously posting as much content as I can to keep things as normal as they can be. With all that being said, I’m actually really excited to share this new post with all of you. So as some of you may know, I am actually a morning person. There is something about getting up early and starting your day on the right foot. I have found over the past few years that I am actually more productive in the morning when I can sit enjoy a cup of warm coffee and plan out the rest of my day or week! Now that Nick and I have moved closer to the city, I’m able to actually enjoy my morning routine and now we have a night routine now that I am not getting home at 9pm at night. Since I have started working full time in the city, I have found that having a good routine to follow is the key to having strong success in life. I truly love a good routine, which is why I’m so excited to share my morning and night routine and maybe give you guys some ideas to adapt to your own routine!

So let’s start with my morning routine: 

 Wake up between 6:30 and 7 am

Some of you may be thinking I’m insane and why would you wake up this early and, to be honest, I can’t really sleep past this time anyways. Once I’m awake, I’m awake and my day has started. Now obviously on weekends, I sleep in till around 8:30 or 9am, but on days where I have to go to work or work from home in this case, my goal is to be up as early as humanly possible. Over the past few years, I have found that I am much more productive in the morning when I can sit and have a warm cup of coffee and mentally start to wake myself up. If you are longing to feel more productive throughout your day, try waking up early and see how your day changes. I know that not everyone is a morning person. For instance, Nick is more productive at night and tends to like working on things later in the day which is great for him. My suggestion is to find what time of day are you feeling most awake and use that time to get sh*t done!

Shower + prep for the day

This honestly depends on the morning and what I have going on that day, but most days, I shower in the morning. I know that some of you are probably thinking I’m crazy for wanting to shower and have to spend some extra time getting ready in the morning, but I honestly love showering in the morning. It wakes me up and helps me feel clean throughout the day which is especially helpful when working from home. After showering I work on my skincare and makeup routine for the day. Now that I have been working from home I have not been wearing any sort of makeup, which my skin has been thanking me for! Make the bed

Growing up my mom always stressed the importance of making my bed and now that I am a grown adult, I can’t imagine a day where my bed is not made first thing in the morning. Nick sleeps in longer than I do, so sometimes it’s not first thing in the morning, but typically once we are both up and around, we both go in and make our bed. There is just something about making your bed that actually makes you feel like you have everything together. Maybe? Let me know if that makes sense or not. I like to have a clean space, especially if I have to be working in the space, so making the bed in the morning definitely makes me feel more at ease during my day knowing that my space is put together.

Eat a good breakfast

Honestly, this is dependent on the morning and how fast I need to get to work. Typically this consists of me eating some cereal or toast because I am not much of a breakfast person. I am working towards trying to take more time in the morning to sit and eat a more hearty breakfast instead of walking out the door with a coffee and granola bar in hand. Now that I am in this working from home routine, I have had more of an opportunity to spend more time in the morning to make something more filling to get me through my morning!

Now time for my night routine: 

Make dinner with Nick

Since we’ve moved into our new apartment, cooking dinner together has become one of our new favorite activities. We like learning new skills and recipes together, so this has become a new fun nightly routine for us to do and talk about our day!

Watch an episode (or two) of a show

Right now Nick and I are in the middle of watching Westworld (which is amazing) or watching Ghost Adventures. This has become something I love to do with him. We both work a lot during the day so being able to come home, cuddle up on the couch and catch up on some of our shows has been a huge de-stressor on the two of us!

Plan out tomorrows agenda

I am a planner through and through, so I like to have a list of things that need to get done the next day for work, for the blog or just in general. This definitely helps me get a clear vision of what my day will hold tomorrow and how much coffee I’ll need to get me through the day!

Do some night time stretches

This doesn’t happen EVERY single night, but I will do some stretches to help me loosen up any tension from the day. Especially now that I am working from my couch (which contrary to popular belief, is not as comfortable as you may think) it’s become more important for me to stay loose and stretch before going to bed.

Skincare routine + layout tomorrows outfit

My skincare routine basically consists of me just washing my face with my Mary Kay Clearproof Cleanser, moisturizer, some of my Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion cream and some Vitamin C serum. It honestly has worked wonders on my skin and I am so blessed to have the clear skin I do. After I do my skincare, then I just go through my closet and hang up whatever I am planning to wear to work the next day. Now obviously I am working from home, so for the time being my outfit typically consists of some leggings and a sweater, but you get a gist of what my normal routine would be like for my 9-5 work week!

I just want to share a few things I would like to start incorporating in my routine (thank you for reading this far): 

  • Start an easy workout routine at home (in the morning or at night)
  • Eat a more hearty breakfast to kickstart the day
  • Start reading more affirmations in the morning to set a positive tone for my day

Latest Obsessions + March Goals 2020

Hey everyone! 

I hope you all have been having a good kick-off to your week this week. I have literally been working around the clock at my 9-5 job and working on a new plan of action for my blog and where I’d like this to go eventually. I started this blog because I thought of it as just a hobby and a way for me to talk to people who could be going through the same life events that I have been experiencing. I’ve been doing a lot of back and forth as to what I would like to accomplish through this blog and how I can continue to grow and reach a wider audience. So I am currently working on a plan of action for the future of this blog, which has me super excited to get back into creating content that I am excited to write for you all to read! Now we have finally made it to March and honestly, 2020 is going way faster than I thought it would be. Is it just me? Anyways, the beginning of this year was full of SO many activities between moving, traveling, and working full time, I definitely feel like March snuck up on me very quickly. This month I have so many products, shows, clothes and music that I am so excited to share with you, so I hope you enjoy reading!

Nike Air Force 1 Sage Low Shoes

I know I am probably so late to hop on this trend, but I swear to god everyone in NYC has these shoes! I had been in the market for a new pair of white lace-up shoes because the other ones I had from ASOS decided to give up on me after a few months, so these shoes were really an investment. When I got them in the mail, I was honestly SHOOK at how gorgeous they were! Besides the fact that they are absolutely so pretty, the comfort is incredible. I got the Sage Low version of the shoes because they come with a little platform that gives me lift, which is so appreciated as a 5’3” female. If you are looking for a high-quality pair of white sneakers, then I highly recommend investing in this pair of shoes!

Ghost Adventures 

Nick and I love watching this show! It is honestly so entertaining. It may be a little over the top at times, but the show is absolutely entertaining and we are always 100% down to throw it on the TV at any time. If you love paranormal investigation shows like we do, then definitely check out the few seasons they have on Hulu! 

Trader Joe’s Toner Spray 

I actually just stumbled across this product while I did some late-night grocery shopping at the Trader Joes by my office and I have to say, Trader Joes definitely kills it with the organic self-care products. The spray is a rosewater infused toner, so not only does it smell amazing but it actually works really well on my skin in the morning and at night. Wanna know the best part? It was only $5! Like what?! I am a huge sucker for cheap organic skincare products and this is probably one of the gentler and best-smelling toners I have used in a hot minute. 10/10 obsessed and 11/10 recommend! 

New York Style 

I have had such an awakening in the fashion world since moving to the area. I have always loved fashion and design since I can remember and I absolutely love how fashion here ranges from simple basics to over the top glam! I am constantly amazed by the creativity that surrounds me here daily, especially within people’s style choices. If you live in NYC or surrounding areas and need inspiration for your closet, just step outside and people watch and you will for sure find new look inspiration! 

High Waisted Straight Leg Jeans 

This has honestly been my go-to for the past few weeks and I am absolutely on a hunt to find more! I love high waisted jeans on my figure and I think a lot of that influence comes from styles I see around NYC. I love to feel comfortable and high waisted jeans are the PERFECT way to dress up or down any look you may have. I have a couple work outfits that I am obsessed with and 90% of them have high waisted straight leg jeans involved. I love Levi’s or American Eagle loose fit straight leg jeans, they are so comfortable and I absolutely recommend them as a closet must-have! 

Now time for my goals:

  • Reach my savings goal for the month
  • Plan an east coast travel location with Nick
  • Reach 1000 followers on Instagram
  • Start making a little revenue from blogging/content creation
  • Finally, purchase a dresser for our apartment
  • Learn one new skill (at work or personal)

Work Hustle + Side Hustle Balance

Hello Beautiful Babes,

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. It was absolutely gorgeous over the weekend in NYC and Jersey City which has been such a mood lifter! Officially been in the new apartment for a few weeks now and things are really starting to come together and look like an actual home, which has been really fun. So far no complaints about living with Nick, we are truly enjoying spending our time together and just love doing life together, which I guess you can say is a good sign! Lately, I have been watching a lot of YouTube and keeping up to date with a lot of different ‘influencers’ I follow and it got me thinking a lot about the term ‘side hustle.’ When I started this blog, I really started it as a hobby and now that I am out of school and working full time, I know lots of people my age who have a side hustle or side passion that they have as another stream of income. This intrigued me because I thought, why not make a little money on the side, doing something I love so much? I started compiling ideas and consulted a book that I have been reading titled, “Girl, Stop Apologizing,” by Rachel Hollis and I collected a few practices that I would like to incorporate in my daily life and hopefully turn my passion project into a side hustle!

Wake up earlier 

I swear, waking up early even though I really don’t have to be into my full-time job until 9, has been such a great new addition to my routine. I’m actually writing this post sitting on my couch with a cup of coffee at 6:45 am. For me personally, waking up early has never truly been an issue. Do I like sleeping in? DUH! But, within the past few years, I found that I am way more productive in the morning than I am at 7pm at night. Especially now that I am working full time, most days I get home and just want to turn my brain off, instead of staring at a laptop and write. For myself the peaceful nature of mornings, makes me feel energized and ready to tackle any task!

Get yourself a planner + color code 

When you have a busy schedule, then the organization is KEY. I have always had this infinite love for my planner and everything it contains and honestly, if I didn’t have it on me at all times, then I would probably be lost in my day to day life. One of the many comments I read talks about organization being key, so let’s bust out our colored pens and get sh*t done!

Set aside time for your passion project 

In the book I read from Rachel Hollis, she talked about setting aside time for your side business. She said to set aside 5 hours spread throughout the week and block out an amount of time every day to work on your side hustle. I thought this was a brilliant idea and I have to say, setting aside an hour to write, edit photos, or reach out to local content creators in the area has really started to make an impact on how I am moving things forward. Again, I have only just started this, but it has definitely made a difference in my routine!  

Burnout can be REAL 

Every article or influencer I have been following has talked about burnout when you are juggling multiple different things. Mentally you will most likely feel drained and exhausted, but it’s what happens when you are working towards a larger goal for yourself. Some advice I have for you is to be sure to take a minute for yourself. If you are feeling overwhelmed with numerous things, go take a walk or take some time to yourself for 30 minutes, whatever you need to do in order to avoid feeling burned out, will overall be a good mental refresher! 

Outsource your tasks 

I find myself doing this a lot now that I am working full time and balancing the blog and such, but outsourcing my daily tasks, has been really helpful at maintaining balance. When you have a lot of different activities or passions that you are juggling, it can be really helpful to handle some tasks while you are in the middle of doing something else. Kinda confusing? So for example, when I am commuting to work, I am writing topic ideas for future posts or planning things in my schedule for meetups with other bloggers in the area. Instead of just standing on the train listening to music and staring at my feet, I am trying to work on a task that benefits my side hustle. Make more sense?

I hope if you have a passion that you are working towards making a career someday, I hope some of this advice can help you push it forward. My last piece of advice is if you are going to do anything, do it wholeheartedly and with no fear of failure. We all have something we are passionate about and I hope you go for whatever it may be, with everything you got!

Latest Obsessions + February Goals 2020

Hi beautiful babes!

Holy cow the past few weeks have been nothing but craziness but exciting. Nick and I finally moved into our new space in Jersey City (which is right across the water from lower Manhattan) and we could not be happier! This weekend we also flew down to Florida to visit Nick’s family, which was so refreshing and amazing to see everyone. So needless to say things have been a little hectic lately, but I am back to my normal routine and ready to keep delivering new and exciting content through 2020. Last month I did not post my latest obsessions and goals, so I am planning on combining some of the new things I have been enjoying since the beginning of January!

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer 

This is my absolute FAVORITE styling tool, I have ever used! I’m honestly not just saying that to be dramatic or over the top, I truly mean it. I am no hair stylist by any means. I typically just blow dry normally and use a flatiron to style, which can take so long and be super damaging to my hair. I heard from so many people that this tool was amazing and when I saw it was only $39.99 (instead of $60) on Amazon, I knew I had to give it a shot. It has cut down my styling in the morning in half, which is so convenient for my morning routine. If you want a little extra volume and an easy way to accomplish a stylish blowout, then you absolutely need to go out and buy this tool!

Our New Apartment 

Obviously, this has to be one of my new obsessions because Nick and I are FINALLY living together just outside the city, which has been amazing so far! We have been waiting for this moment for such a long time and now that it’s finally here, we couldn’t be happier. The Witcher 

Nick and I had recently been in a rut when it came to watching a show together and we were browsing some Netflix options and we noticed the Witcher. It’s based in medieval times and is so captivating from the start. We just finished the first season and are so pumped for season 2! We are currently looking for a new show to binge, so if you have any recommendations, comment below. 

Breath of Youth Clothing 

This brand has some of the cutest, most comfortable and most affordable clothing pieces I have ever seen and worn. I recently bought an adorable cream knit sweater and it is probably the softest and most flattering piece I have in my closet. Their clothing style is so simple and unique, which I absolutely love, so if you are into simple and unique styles, definitely be sure to check out this brand. I can’t wait to buy more from them! 

Dry Bar Prime & Prep Detangling Spray 

I’m writing this post just after I ran out of this product, but I am so excited to buy more for my hair in the morning. It honestly is such a game-changing spray for any morning routine. Since my hair is so thick, when I get out of the shower, my hair can be so knotted and just feels damaged before I even blowdry. I received this spray in my last FabFitun box and needless to say, I went through it very quickly. It smells great and works like a charm for many different hair types. If you use a lot of direct heat on your hair and have trouble detangling your hair after your shower, then you need to use this product ASAP! 

FitOn App 

One of my goals this new year was to find a way for me to work out that fits in with my work schedule and not worry about paying crazy amounts for a gym membership. I found this app while scrolling through Instagram and I have to say I was totally impressed. It’s a fitness app that you don’t have to pay for! You don’t have to pay for the instructed videos, you can have a plan set up for you based on your fitness goals and so much more. It has some really great workouts planned for your personal goals and also includes an option to browse and choose classes based on how you’re feeling that day or what area you’d like to target! I absolutely love using this app, and I hope you all choose to incorporate this app into your fitness routines.

Now time for some goals: 

  • Finish unpacking and fully move into a new apartment
  • Finalize a rough guest list and rough budget for the wedding
  • Workout on the FitOn app every day after work or before work
  • Cook 3 new recipes this month
  • Master 1 new program at work
  • Start a real savings plan with Nick

Am I Good Enough + Steps to Remember

Hi beautiful babes!

I am so sorry for being MIA basically all of January. This month has been so crazy between packing to move and just crazy booked with work, that I have just been so mentally drained. But I am back and ready to write for all of you to read!

Today I kind of wanted to take a detour from the content that I am typically used to writing for you and step outside of my comfort zone. For some reason the past few weeks, the phrase ‘am I good enough,’ has been circling around my brain. I feel like since moving there have been a lot of exciting things that have happened and I have shared with you, but something that I am not used to sharing is my super vulnerable side, which I want to change starting this year. Now don’t worry I won’t lose that fun side of me, but I just want to be more open with you all about what I am going through and hopefully help anyone else who could be going through the same thing. Since moving and spending most of my time in New York, I have felt this need to step up what I am doing in my life, which has created this immense pressure to be perfect. I feel like especially in today’s day and age, there is this overwhelming pressure to share the perfect photo or be a perfect role model for others and it can just weigh you down constantly. This new year, something that I have been really working hard to change, is how I see myself compared to someone else. Whether it’s at work or in your personal hobbies, we all tend to compare ourselves and wonder are we good enough. I have been trying to adapt a few ways to help overcome this thought and really move forward in giving myself the confidence to be the best version of me I can be!

Your mind can be a convincing liar

This is something that I feel happens to a lot of people. We struggle with fighting negative thoughts that we may hold onto about ourselves and that can be a hard habit to quit. Whenever I feel like I have a rough day, especially with work, I have so many thoughts going through my head like, “Am I good enough to handle this?” or “Why did I think I could do this project?” Those thoughts can really deplete your confidence as a person! The one-piece of advice that I have been trying to implement more in my life is learning to talk to myself using positive affirmations whenever negative thoughts seem to be bringing me down. I definitely think it takes time and one positive affirmation may not make it all be better, but it can help after a few tries to get you back into a positive mindset!

Focus on progress over perfection 

I know myself and I know I can be very hard on myself when I don’t feel perfect in a situation. No matter how many times I tell myself that perfection is overrated or that I don’t have to be perfect, somehow I just can’t seem to shake the constant need to be this perfect human. I know I am the farthest thing from being perfect, which is why I am trying to focus more on my progress in life. We are all working on ourselves and no one is a perfect finished product, nor will they ever be! Just try to focus on your own growth as a human instead of worrying about being the perfect person all the time.

Other people are comparing themselves too 

Have you ever looked at someone and started comparing yourself to how they look or act? C’mon, I know you have because we all have done it at one point or another, even if you don’t realize you are doing it. Comparing ourselves to others is the single most destructive thing to do to your confidence. The thing that we don’t get to see, is that the person we are comparing ourselves to is probably comparing themselves to you or someone else. Did that make sense? Are you still following? It’s totally normal to do this, but we need to do better at loving ourselves for everything that makes us unique instead of wishing we have something that someone else has.

Choose self-empowering language 

This is what I mean when I talk about positive affirmations! Instead of talking down to yourself when you don’t understand something at work or are feeling bad about your body, working on having empowering language when negative thoughts enter your mind can help keep you keep yourself in check whenever you aren’t feeling great. Using phrases like, “I have all the power I need,” or “I make my dreams a reality,” can make such a small change in how you see yourself and how others will see you. There is power behind your thoughts and words, so use them for the good of your wellbeing!

Be authentically and unapologetically you 

Something I have learned over the past few years is a lesson about acceptance. Acceptance for who you are physically, mentally, and personality-wise. Learning to be unapologetically yourself can be a difficult road to be on, but as long as you have confidence in yourself and your abilities, then you will finally be happy just being you!

I hope that some of these small tidbits of advice can help any of you who may need to hear this right now. You are all amazing the way you are and you are definitely good enough for anything you put your mind to. New Decade, New Goals, New Me

Hello beautiful babes!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and an even better kick-off to the new decade. It’s so crazy to think about entering a new decade, it feels like the past 10 years just flew by (kinda). So much has happened previously in 2019 and I have so much to be grateful for. I graduated from college with a degree I am so passionate about. I became a PYM girl. I had an internship with a creative agency I was completely in love with. I made a big move to a new state with Nick. I struggled mentally with finding a job right out of school. I ended up landing a position in a worldwide media marketing agency. And finally, ended the year getting engaged to my best friend and college sweetheart! Yes, Nick and I are officially engaged and we are both so excited! You can check out my Instagram for the adorable pictures taken by my sister and catch up on everything we have been doing since then.  Needless to say, it has been an exciting year full of lots of love and excitement! I have been so pumped for 2020 and this year I want to accomplish the resolutions I have set in place for myself. I feel like every year I make all these unrealistic goals for myself and nothing ever is seen all the way through. This year, I want to keep it real with myself and focus my energy on goals that I am excited for and confident I can complete!

Be better at budgeting

Now that Nick and I are engaged and apartment hunting, something that has been on my radar for a while now. This is not to say that we are bad at budgeting my any means, we just want to improve the system we have already put in place and be smarter with our spending!

Cook one new thing once a week

Both Nick and I LOVE to cook and recently we have not been able to cook from home as much as we wanted to which is why I want to change that this year. I have already started pinning new recipes and different cuisines we can start trying together!

Practice better time management

Even though I have been enjoying my new job, I have noticed a drastic difference in how I use my time outside of work. Since my commute in and out of the city takes up most of my day, I have become a lot lazier when I get home which doesn’t allow me to enjoy other activities that may bring me joy. I have decided that this year, I want to use my downtime in a more productive way instead of just laying around. This could mean doing a quick at-home workout, writing, or meal prepping lunch for the next day. I just don’t want to lay around every night after work anymore and I think this is a good habit to start in 2020!

Collect more plants + learn proper care

I love taking care of my plant babies and this year I would love to collect more! I also want to become more knowledgeable about plant care so I can keep them all alive LOL. If anyone has any recommendations for easy plants to start with, let me know & I would love to check them out!

Explore new cities with Nick

Nick and I are always talking about different places we want to visit but somehow we never get around to actually going. After Nick and I move into our new apartment and get settled, I would like to take some time for both of us to go explore new cities around us or travel to a new state. I’m super excited about this resolution!

Be more diligent maintaining brand partnerships

In 2019 I grew my brand more which was a very great accomplishment for me and this year I want to continue that growth. I am making a promise to myself to be better at posting on this blog more consistently, creating content more regularly for my social pages and being more diligent about maintaining brand partnerships. I can’t wait to kick this off!

Make fewer excuses

The past few years this has been something on my list of goals to accomplish and every year, I always end up horrifically making excuses for why I can’t do something. Well this year, I am making this a priority in my life. If I want or need to do something, I can’t keep making excuses as to why I can’t. If I say I’m going to workout one night, I’m going to work out. If I say I’m going to sit and plan out content for the following week, then I will sit and plan out content. I am making a vow to myself not to let excuses dictate my future success in life!

Cut down screen time

Nothing kills me more than getting the notification on my phone about my screen time the past week. I know we live in a world where we are surrounded by reasons to look at our phone but this year, I would like to cut my screen time down by half. I want to be able to sit and watch a show with Nick without having to check in on the latest updates on my social media. Especially at night after working all day, my goal is to plug in my phone, set alarms for the morning and leave it alone for the rest of the night.

Receive a promotion at work

This is more of a personal goal than a resolution, but I am hoping by the end of the year, I can move up in my position at Starcom!

Remove any negativity from my life

I started this resolution last year and I have to say things really took a turn for the better because of it. I told myself last year that I wouldn’t put up with any negative energy or people in my life and once I told myself that I found myself in a much happier state of mind! If there is any resolution I can recommend to you, it’s to stop feeding time and energy in people who don’t reciprocate the same back to you. All of us can better ourselves and lifestyle, by cutting out the negative energy that is surrounding us!

I know this post is a little late, but I was so excited to share it with all of you. 2019 had a lot of positives and negatives but I am looking forward to seeing what 2020 has in store for meself and all of you! Cheers to the people who love us, the losers who lost us, and the lucky ones who still get to meet us. Happy new decade everyone!

UnHide Lil’ Marshmallow Blanket

I think I was probably the product I was most excited to try. It is this super soft and cozy which is perfect for the cold winters we will be experiencing out on the east coast. I absolutely love the feeling of this blanket and the fact that it’s oversized is perfect for my small body to curl up into so I watch my favorite Christmas movies this season!

LashesMD Eyelash Conditioner

So this was one of my add on options that I just wanted SO badly to try and even though it may be a little too early to tell any difference, I have to say this is one of my new favorite products that I have now included into my everyday night routine! If you are like me and wear makeup basically everyday to work, then you probably experience some troubles with your lashes too. Now I try not to wear a ton of makeup during the work week, but sometimes I just feel weird going out in public without a little something on. In the winter time I notice that my lashes become extremely damaged and I have been trying to find a new trick to strengthen and keep them hydrated which this product does pretty well! Again, it’s probably a little too early to tell any major difference but this morning my lashes looked healthier and were soft to the touch so that has to count for something. 10/10 FabFitFun because I love it!

Rodial Soft Focus Glow Drops

I just recently got into using good quality primers lately and when I saw these glow drops were an option you know I had to try it. The drops are meant to brighten your complexion and give you a slight dewy look to your makeup which I LOVE! The product was so light on my skin and I didn’t feel like my skin was weighed down by my makeup throughout the day. Especially with me working all day, sometimes I am in need of a drastic touch up halfway through the day and when I used this primer, I didn’t feel the need to go into the bathroom to touch up which was great! I will definitely be using this product more often.

LXMI Pure Nilotica Melt

This organic balm to oil is amazing! I struggle so hard with dry skin all over during the winter time so I have all the moisturizers and balms on hand. The thing that’s unique about this balm to oil is that it has multiple different uses. You can use it on your face, your lips, your hands, elbows, knees and toes (LOL). I love having a balm that can do it all so this will definitely be a must have in my bag all winter! Just be cautious, a little does go a long way so if you are going to use this product, don’t use a ton unless you want to feel like an oil slick for the rest of the day.

Vera Mona Color Switch Solo

I hate cleaning my makeup brushes. There I said it! I hate having to sit and wash them then lay them out to dry in hopes that they will be dry the next morning when I need them. Well thankfully I don’t have to do that anymore! Sorry too cheesy? Anyways, this product has to be one of the coolest products I have tried in a FabFitFun box. It’s basically just a dry spongy material that doesn’t require any water or soap. You just stick your brushes in and it cleans any color or excess product off of your makeup brushes! It works amazingly well and I totally recommend it to any of you who are into the makeup world.

INC.redible NailsInc Thirsty Hand Duo

I typically never use hand masks so this was a new experience for me. The gloves contain plant extracts, ahea butter and vitamin E to help reguvinate your hands. Even though I found it a bit odd to just sit and do nothing while these gloves worked their magic, I have to say I was very surpirsed at how great my hands felt afterwards. It took a hot minute for the excess lotions to get into my hands but afterwards they were SO soft! I’m not 100% sure if I can use them again or if it’s just a one use only type of product, but I will be sure to do some more research. Thanks FabFitFun!

Drybar Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler

I have never tried any Drybar products or visited their location (which I so want to), but when I saw one of their products in my box I became over the moon excited! I actually used this product this morning after my shower to help prep my hair for my blow dryer and straightener and I was totally impressed! Again all the products I receive are full size so I will be able to use this product for a long time which is so great. I cannot express how easy it was to brush through my hair after spraying a ton of the product through my knotted mess and then after blow drying and straightening my hair, it still felt soft and healthy which is so awesome! I will definitely be purchasing this product in the future and I totally recommend it to anyone who styles their hair as much as I do.

Makeup Eraser in Original Pink

This was the one product that I had heard about before receiving and I have to say I was kinda skeptical to use it. Well you heard it here folks, the Makeup Eraser works! I was so SHOOK when I tried it. It felt so nice to take off my makeup flawlessly with just a washcloth and water instead of using makeup wipes that can leave oils on your face. It’s so easy to use and I’m surprised I haven’t been using this already, but it may be my newest obsession!

Maintaining Balance Between Work + Life

Hello beautiful babes!

I hope you all had a great kick off to your week and are just about as ready as I am for Christmas break. Sorry for not posting yesterday, Monday I had to work late and by the time I go home I was ready for a glass of wine and to curl up in my bed, so I didn’t have the brain power to finish writing this post for you. I feel like lately I have been behind with all my postings on this blog and my socials which has been tearing me up because I honestly love writing and talking with you all, so I am making it a point to be better at keeping you all updated with how things are going in my life! Since starting my new job I have been trying to fgure out the proper balance between working 9-5, commuting an hour and a half between CT and NYC, and being awake enough to want to workout or spend time with the people I love. I think this post is so important to read for those of you struggling to find balance between working your 9-5 job and still maintaining your personal life.

Time management

Obviously this is the most important aspect. Your week is going to full of craziness, but the biggest way to balance both work and play is learning to manage your time well. Yes most of my time is spent at work from 9-5 but when I’m home, I’m trying to be better at not wasting time when I’m home. Now, there are some nights when I want to just sit and do nothing for the rest of the night and that’s totally cool! But if you know that you should go to the gym or wash that pile of laundry sitting upstairs or prepping dinner for the next day then make the time to do that before settling in for the night. At the beginning of every day I make my to-do list which helps me better determine how to manage my time for the week. I can better plan the days where I may have more free time to do the tasks that are waiting to be done for work and for my home!

Prioitize your energy

This can kind of go hand in hand with what I shared for time management. Prioritizing things can be difficult when you are first starting off in your job. Lately I have been feeling like I have to dedicate all of my energy to my job (which is fine) but I am trying to be better at not just prioritizing time but also energy. In marketing it can be hard to turn off the work because it is a constant ‘must be available’ attitude. I am trying to be available but also take time off where I need time off and unplug from everything when I need to unplug. I am someone who experiences extreme burnout so I try to make a concious effort to prioritize my energy in healthy ways. So the next time you feel like you are always on the go, check in with yourself and take break when you need it!

Create healthy habits

Something I have noticed since starting my busy schedule is figuring out how to keep my healthy habits in check. I actually like being active and when I started my new job that became a little more difficult. In order for me to stay mentally on top of my game is to workout and maintain a healthy meal plan. Don’t get me wrong I love my burgers and candy, but I am trying to be better at mainatining balance between working and keeping myself healthy!

Take time for yourself

Now understandably, during the week it can be hard to take a lot of time to yourself. But I try to take a night or two during the week to really focus on my wellbeing and detox mentally so I am all clear for the rest of the week! As I love to say in all my blogs, self care is so important so make sure to leave time at night to destress.

These are just a few tips I have that I am starting to incorporate into my weekly routine and I hope that these tips can help if you are going through the same work life balancing struggle I have been going through. Again, I’m so sorry for not posting yesterday due to crazy schedules and I promise I am working on being better at posting more regularly for you to enjoy.
